In an interview with http://www.thetimesnews.com/, a couple from North Carolina talked about the footprints they found and their experiences with the Finding Bigfoot crew.
Bernadette and Leonard Braley spotted some muddy footprints on the road about 50 feet from their home on Quartz Court in Gibsonville last October. They took photos of what they thought were 16-inch muddy footprints and then forgot about them for a few months. When the Animal Planet Finding Bigfoot crew heard about the muddy footprint photographs, the Braleys were invited to Troy to talk with the group. The crew said they were doing some filming for a six-part series on Animal Planet called "Finding Bigfoot".
"When Animal Planet got there, they went crazy when they saw the pictures," Bernadette Braley said. "They wanted to come to our house and do filming for their series." The BFRO investigators, the production crew and several others spent a day with the Braleys in March, asking questions, filming and trying to recreate the footprints.
The Episode Guide for the June 12th episode of Finding Bigfoot description mentions "convincing pieces of bigfoot footage from the past 40 years."
It's no surprise Oregon has its share of Bigfoot encounters; including paranormal Bigfoot events. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, the town of MIllersburg, Oregon, (about forty five miles north of Eugene) experienced some very strange events involving a white Bigfoot or "BHM" (Big Hairy Monster) with a lot of high strangeness surrounding the encounters.
The creature was called the "Creature of Conser Lake," also the "Ghost of Conser Lake" (because of its white color) and the "Monster of Conser Lake," the lake's name was Conser at the time, but isn't called Conser Lake anymore, the name has been changed and is on private property. I'm not revealing the name of the lake out of respect to the owners.
Reported as a bigfoot type creature; about seven feet tall, bipedal, white shaggy fur, the creature mystified Millersburg residents for over a year. The story begins with a story of a UFO or strange light crashing into Conser Lake in either 1959 or 1960. Soon after the strange light crashed into Conser Lake, a Millersburg truck driver was understandably startled to find a white, shaggy furred bigfoot type creature trotting along beside his truck as he was driving down the road. The driver, a mint farmer, was going about 35 miles an hour; the creature was easily keeping pace with the moving vehicle.
The creature was described as being about seven feet tall. The mint farmer described the creature as a "shaggy gorilla." Local Bruce Hamilton remembers the creature in Conser Lake, and a story about a "young couple driving by the lake; a seven or eight foot creature ran alongside their car."
As if the truck farmer's experience wasn't odd enough, "another" report of a tall, white furred shaggy Bigfoot type creature running alongside side a truck made its way into the news. This time the creature was seen in Telephone, Oregon, in Eastern Oregon. (I realize the town doesn't seem to show up on maps or Google searches, as I have found, and a recent e-mail alerted me to. However, this is the name cited by several sources. Many small "towns" are not listed, also, it's possible the name has changed, the area incorporated, or simply disappeared over time.) Witness C.A. Cissman saw a bright light approach, hover about 30 minutes, then disappear, shooting upwards and disappearing within seconds. Later, in Prospect, Oregon a logger was shocked to see a white furred, Bigfoot or Bigfoot type being, leisurely jogging alongside his truck on a deserted rural road.
Stories of Bigfoot running alongside cars aren't new, either. A report from 1926 tells of a Bigfoot creature encounter in Yankton, Oregon: "Bigfoot following alongside a truck looking in. Sheep and children would disappear." (UFO Casebook) It seems there was a history of bright zipping lights and white Bigfoot -- or white somethings -- following cars and trucks in Oregon.
Other reports of white Bigfoot creatures can be found; for example, Chris O'Brien writes in his Secrets of the Mysterious Valley about a "New Mexico cattle inspector" who told O'Brien:
he watched with binoculars a white bigfoot clamor up a rocky slope.. a witness in Washington "reported seeing a Bigfoot with large pointed ears" (p 231 Secrets of the Mysterious Valley, Christopher O'Brien)
The reference to "pointed ears" is interesting; Flix, our creature in Conser Lake, was also described as having pointed or "cat like" ears. A "ten foot white Bigfoot" was seen on the banks of the Ohio river in the 1960s. In fact, sightings of a white Bigfoot in the area were reported from the 1900s to the 1990s.(The I-Files: True Reports of Unexplained Phenomena in Illinois, Jay Rath)
Peter Guittilla's The Bigfoot Files contains stories of white BHM or Bigfoot like creatures that transcend the flesh and blood variety. Guittilla references an account from Fate magazine out of Peter Bottom, Arkansas. In 1966 reports of a "monster" living in the Bottom emerged. The creature was described as being nine feet tall with snow white fur. Aside from giving off a strong smell, the creature "made a sound like a radio signal... the signal sounded like 'beep, beep, beep." (The Bigfoot Files, p 86)
The synchronicity of the white bigfoots is intriguing, along with the mysterious lights in the sky. As far as the Conser Lake "monster" goes, witnesses reported feelings of disorientation, dizziness, severe headaches, and hearing loud thuds and running footsteps right by them but no source for the sounds. Some insisted they were in telepathic communication with the being, who said his name was "Flix" and was from outer space.
Flix was Bigfoot like in many ways, yet there were other characteristics described by witnesses that are strange. Flix was said to have claws and or webbed feet and hands and cat like ears.
There are some similarities with Bigfoot; the height, bipedalism, shaggy fur. As noted, there were other similar beings in Oregon scattered throughout the state. But enough high strangeness episodes take the idea of a strictly flesh and blood creature out its comfortable unknown animal category, and into the truly Fortean or esoteric. All the above noted incidences: UFOs or bright lights, telepathy, sounds with no visible source, feelings of disorientation, and the synchronicty of similar creatures adds up to something beyond a flesh and blood Bigfoot.

It is believed Leif Erickson the Viking might have been the first European to see a Bigfoot when he landed in Newfoundland around 1000 AD, describing encounters with huge hairy men, with a horrible odor and piercing shrieks. L'Anse aux Meadows is a Newfoundland archaeological site found in the 1960s. This is the only known village settlement by the Vikings in this area around 1000 AD. That region was inhabited by Native people from back to 6000 BP. Native people who surely had dealt with the local Bigfoot.Is it possible that the Vikings landed on a continent that had two tribes? One Native American and one being Bigfoot? If and upright human-like being can manage to stay well hidden from man, showing a good degree of intelligence, then when we refer to Bigfoot, are we not referring to the "other" tribe of the Americas?

History Channel - Original Air Date: 6/20/08In Ohio, eyewitnesses continue to report a strange, bogey-man like creature known as the grassman. Sightings of the creature date back to the 1860s, when a man and his daughter claimed to be attacked by the creature. The creature may, in fact, be bigfoot by another name. A mysterious skull found in the wilderness proves to be that of a baboon -- possibly escaped from captivity. But a baboon doesnt resemble a seven-foot-tall grassman. A woman claims to have seen the monster in her yard, and an investigator claims to have found an igloo-like grass hut, or nest, on February 19, 1995. Investigators bring in small surveillance helicopters to survey a park in the "sasquatch triangle." At night, they intend to use a thermal camera to try and find the grassman. (Why not use real helicopters?) A man named Keating has a tape that may show a grassman in the background; the tape is given to an expert for analysis. A 2002 print of a hand may be of grassman, and another expert is called. Investigator Cook puts up a fake bigfoot decoy to try and lure a real one out of the woods. Then he does some wood knocking in an attempt to signal the creature. When the knocking fails, he tries bigfoot calls, but that fails, too. In 2007, though, he thinks he captured a bigfoot cry on tape. That cry, too, goes off to an expert, but the expert reaches no conclusion as to what made the sound. While winter camping, a couple saw a sinister creature lurking just beyond the light of their campfire. A truck driver also had a compelling sighting.The hand print expert concludes the cast is of a non-human primate similar to (or possibly belonging to) a gorilla; it is "not "a fake. The video doesnt have enough information to reveal what the moving figure in the background is. An attempt to recreate the woven "nest" reveals it would have take a long time to build. The camera traps and decoy find nothing. Nor does the helicopter catch the elusive creature. After another expensive snipe hunt for bigfoot (I think this is at least the 4th bigfoot show in the series), perhaps MQ would consider a longer, more concerted expedition. Otherwise, I fear that their continuing efforts are doomed to get the same disappointing results.

There are so many Bigfoot sighting in the US and the world that I'm surprised they don't just come out and say I'm here. Bigfoot has so many names I'm not going to list them if I could. There have been over 96 sighting in Colorado, 14 within 40 miles of Colorado Springs and 8 in El Paso County. But I will make some comments on sightings in El Paso County, Colorado and within 40 miles of where I live. Most all of the sightings are in the Pikes Peak Mountain range or nearby. The dates of sighting and tracks range from 1980 to April 2008.There are many things I have did in my life that could be called crazy and I'm about to add one more. In all my life I have wanted to head up a Bigfoot expedition and it may just happen. If I can't get anyone to go with me, then I go by myself. The location has been picked and for now I'm keeping it a secret. But after the expedition I will make a report in my blog on something or likely nothing.The first sighting here in the county was behind Pikes Peak at an elevation of 7000-8000 feet during the winter of 1980. The only thing they say were very large tracks in the snow, larger than human.The second sighting was on Fire Road 371 on Cheyenne Mountain in July 1986 near NORAD. This was an actual sighting of a humanoid form by a Marine on training. The creature was 6.5 feet tall, had light brown fur, fox like eyes, long arms and walked upright.The third sighting was in November of 1997 near State Highway 24 six miles west of Manitou Springs. A Bigfoot sighting alone the highway on a ridge.The fourth sighting was 5 miles south of State Highway 115 [Red Hill] in December 1999. The Bigfoot had wide shoulders, ape like face, yellow eyes, stood upright and was 7 foot tall.The fifth sighting was on Pikes Peak, Forest Service road 334 at Crow Gulch picnic ground in June 2001. A black Bigfoot. A Bigfoot crossing sign has been placed on the right side of the road nearby.The sixth 20-30 creatures was in October 2002 between Balanced Rock Road and Mount Herman Road approximately 1/4 mile east of Rampart Range Road. The creatures were making a moening/whining sound.The seventh sighting was on Table Mountain south of Cheyenne Mountain NORAD and 500 yards west of State Highway 115 in May 2006. A soldier form Fort Carson saw a Bigfoot walking upright on its hind legs and was 6-7 foot tall.The last sighting was at Green Mountain Falls and reported by a Bigfoot Expedition sometime around April 2008. It's kinda funny, yesterday I wrote about how Bigfoot was a 'second tier' movie monster, and how the creature just wasn't getting enough credit. Well, oddly enough, I have yet another Sasquatch "splatter-fest" to tell you about.
Get the folks from "Monster Quest" down here pronto! This is the second Bigfoot sighting around here in less than a week.
Director James Baack is making a more 'hard-core' Bigfoot movie, something that he promises will be a whole lot more violent than what we are used to from a monster who is normally spotted taking leisurely strolls and being made fun off by a-holes munching on beef jerky.
Baack had this to say about his film, "The Bloody Rage of Bigfoot", "Plain and simple. We are shooting quite possibly the bloodiest film of all time."
Speaking of shooting, if you happen to be in Northern Wisconsin this summer, and you spot a harry monster, don't pull the trigger, it may be Baack's film production, which will be filming in the area.
Besides the violence Baack has come up with some other interesting 'gimmicks' that he hopes will set his film apart from the mass of Sasquatch horrors that have come before it.
The director also wants to make viewing his film to be something that goes beyond just watching a movie, "We want this to be premiered exclusively at Drive-In's. Then we will have our DVD available to the public."
"We have a local Chicago land Drive -in that is interested in showing the film. Our plan is to turn it into an "event" with a live rock band, costume contest, and some other goodies."
Besides wanting to capture the old Drive-in movie experience, he has pulled another 50s inspired movie technique from his hat, filming his movie in 3D.
Oh, and if you plan to see "The Bloody Rage of Bigfoot", bring a change of clothes or wear a rain slicker, "At this point, the film will not only be in 3-D, but we are also very seriously considering ( and figuring out a way ) to attach hoses to the screen, hooked up to pressurized tanks and actually spray the first few rows of the audience with fake blood."
Synopsis:
Bigfoot contracts rabies from a half-dead raccoon hit by a car. As the rabies progresses, so does the deterioration of his mind. He wanders deep into the woods and encounters a Ku Klux Klan / Militia Group conducting training and that's where the body count starts. Expect a lot of guns, shootouts, explosions, and gore.
At the same time, a group of young "Goth" girls from a local high school are experimenting with black magic and through numerous attempts, they use a human sacrifice as an offering (they sacrifice the "pimp") and they successfully conjure up a hideous demon that is even MORE blood thirsty than a rabid Bigfoot. The film will climax with both monsters involved in a vicious and blood soaked battle to the death."
Rapid Sasquatches, satanic Goth Girls, human sacrifices, audiences doused with blood! Boy this one sure makes "The Legend of Boggy Creek" seem like an old fashioned church picnic doesn't it?
I don't know how good "The Bloody Rage of Bigfoot" will be, but you really have to take your hat off to Baack for pulling all the stops in creating what will certainly be an unforgettable cinema spectacle.

The team heads to Pennsylvania to check out a film made by teenage go-karters. The show follows the usual format: interview witnesses, night investigation, camp out (Bobo), town hall, more witnesses, and final night investigation. The footage, from 2012, shows a shadowy figure striding through the forest with a gait similar to the Patterson film. It reminds Ranae of similar footage from Indiana, which she believes to be a hoax. In a re-creation, Bobo looks bigger than the supposed bigfoot; hoax seems likely to all the team -- and they suspect one of the teens talking to them of being the guy in the "suit." They then go to a remote island area (near where the famous Jacobs trail cam "juvenile bigfoot" photos were taken) for their night investigation. They see eye-shine, and Bobo is convinced enough that he and Cliff heard a bigfoot, that Bobo stays behind to camp out and investigate. (Though he only finds other howling Squatchers.)
The rest meet a kid who has very compelling bigfoot testimony, and spend a lot of time talking to him. Even Ranae is impressed, though she wonders if his imagination as gotten hthe better of him. In their final investigation, the crew decides to play whale songs in an attempt to lure in curious bigfoots. Despite hearing the usual sounds and false starts in the dark, they come away with no firm evidence.

On Wednesday, Thom Powell posted an spicy article on the Paul Freeman video (Snap for raw video) which was made roundabouts Seize Stream, WA in 1992.

No, it is not Bigfoot but as this writer makes quite clear, it is a giant sloth making his appearance on camera. This is very good news, not least because it was identified.
As my readers know, I have identified and collected several reports as of a giant sloth in the Appalachians except for one in the mountains of California. It was getting pretty lonely as no one else caught on. Here we have an excellent shot although sadly we are missing the face.
This is actually very good news. It should be possible to locate these creatures and trap them for study. They like cadavers and bury them lightly to produce a large crop of maggots. Plus they occupy hunting ranges meaning they can be targeted.
Bigfoot unfortunately is a past master of avoiding us and will not be easily enticed unless trust is built up. In this way they more resemble us and know we are dangerous.

"Every once in a while, even we are confounded and bewildered by the results of one of our own investigations. Our analysis of the shaggy cryptid caught on a trail cam in Virginia is one such example. The image of this mysterious creature, recently released by Roger William, has been creating quite a buzz around the Bigfoot and cryptozoology community in recent days, stumping even the most experienced cryptozoologists, and we believe that we may have solved the mystery of this creature's identity."
On August 27, the Bigfoot Evidence blog sought the opinion of Bizarre Zoology's Jay Cooney, who surmised:
"While the animal's stretched forelimb and apparent long hair made me wonder if this could be an actual wood ape, other features of its anatomy make it clear what its identity truly is. Its hind limbs/hind quarters make it obvious that this is a habitual quadruped, as they lack the hallmarks of biped anatomy such as calves and prominent gluteals. Simple comparative anatomy with black bears will reveal that the animal exhibits the hind limbs and feet of a bear, rather than those of a hominid. "
Cooney's analysis has been echoed by several other researchers, who also tend to favor the theory that the Viginia trail cam creature is a quadruped. We at Journal of the Bizarre also agree with this fact; however, we believe that the creature in question is not a bear, but aground sloth- an extinct quadruped mammal which last roamed North America 11,000 years ago.
"One critical aspect which researchers seem to have overlooked is the enormous tail, which has apparently been mistaken as the creature's hind leg. However, a close look of the photo reveals that the creature's left hind leg is in front of the tree limb on the ground. As you can see by the following photo, the creature's legs appear to be straddling the fallen tree limb."
Once this is distinctive anatomical feature has been recognized, the pool of possible "suspects" shrinks considerably, so considerably, in fact, that the ground sloth is the only possibility.
Another tell-tale clue is provided by Bigfoot researcher Rick Jacobs, who states that the creature appears to have fingers, which are grasping the base of the tree limb. This would obviously rule out the prevailing theory among cryptozoologists that the creature is a bear. Sloths, on the other hand, have elongated claws used for gripping branches (much like in the trail cam picture) which could easily be mistaken for fingers. The elongated arms also point to the tree sloth.
The final giveaway is the animal's fur, which appears to be more "shaggy" than that of a bear or a primate. Of all the possible "suspects", the fur most closely resembles that of living species of tree sloths (the much-smaller tree-dwelling cousin of the ground sloth).
But how could this Virginia "Bigfoot" be an animal long believed to be extinct? Our very own Marlin Bressi, crytozoologist and paranormal researcher, offers his opinion:
"Scientists believe that the North American ground sloth was hunted to extinction by humans roughly ten to eleven thousand years ago. Unlike a species wiped out by a cataclysmic event, whose extinction cannot be questioned, species which have been made 'extinct' by the hand of man have a long history of re-appearing in the natural world. Scientists refer to these animals as 'Lazarus species'. Examples of these include the Arakan forest turtle of Asia and the Javan elephant of Southeast Asia. Whenever an animal is said to have been hunted to extinction, the possibility of a few surviving members escaping from their predators always remains."
He also points out that fossilized remains of the North American ground sloth Megalonyx are frequently found in Alaska, British Columbia, and the Pacific Northwest- geographic locations long associated with Bigfoot. Another smaller species, Pliometanastes protistus, also inhabited the southern United States. Based on fossil evidence, experts believe that the Megalonyx ground sloths were capable of growing as large as elephants.
"The interesting thing about sloths is their ability to vocalize," Bressi adds. "Since we have no examples of ground sloth vocalization, we can only speculate that the vocalization would sound like that of a tree sloth, but much louder and deeper based on it's size in relation to it's much smaller cousin. The chirps and whoops and growls of the tree sloth, interestingly, are not wholly different from that of Bigfoot. I believe it would be erroneous to imply that all Bigfoot creatures are ground sloths, but the trail cam photo from Virginia shows an animal which I strongly believe is a species of ground sloth."
"One question I am frequently asked is, 'If Bigfoot does exist, why haven't any bones been dug up?' Well, bones of ground sloths are dug up all the time, so that may help shed some light on that mystery. In fact, if not for ground sloths, the world of paleontology may look quite different today. In 1796, Thomas Jefferson read a paper he had written on ground sloths to the American Philosophical Society, which in turn sparked the golden age of paleontology in America."
Bressi isn't the only person who thinks ground sloths might still be alive; at the onset of the Lewis and Clark expedition, President Jefferson instructed Meriwether Lewis to keep an eye out for ground sloths, believing that some of these creatures were still living in the Northwest.
Never Disappoint Bongo!
Over the last few months there has been many disappointments for the bigfoot community.
KETCHUM DNA STUDY -
First lets look at the Dr. Ketchum DNA Study. A 5 year study with over 100 reported DNA samples from bigfoots. The study finally published in what some are calling Self Publishing. This only fueled the controversy over the study. The unknown part of the DNA was labeled as "Angel DNA" by some and was quickly tied to the Nelphlim, which links to the Bible. This was a target for many people, seeing that the bigfoot community has a large number of people who do not believe in God or the Bible, the attack was on.
Many scientist ripped the study and didn't support it, but a few scientist came out and supported the 5 year study and the published results. In the end you must ask yourself one question about this bigfoot DNA study, "Did the results of the DNA study prove or convince anyone, who did not already believe in bigfoot, that bigfoot is a real creature?" To me that answer is No. Please don't get me wrong, I think there were many good and real bigfoot DNA samples in the study but it appears they have been wasted at this point.
I was glad about the bigfoot DNA study and had some hope for it, but in the end it was a disappointment for me and many in the bigfoot community. I do support the efforts of DNA study and hope that some good comes from all of it.

THE ERICKSON PROJECT VIDEOS -
One can not talk about the Ketchum DNA study without bringing up the Erickson Project. This was said to be directly related to the DNA study and have a pending release of HD footage videos of bigfoot. While the publishing of the Ketchum paper did bring about the release of a small clip of a sleeping bigfoot named Matilda it was quickly attacked by skeptics and critics. The Footage which appears below was later said to be a worked up Chewbacca mask.
Later some photos were leaked of Matilda and that only added fuel to the Chewbacca Mask theory.

Why has nothing been released is a valid question. I still hold out some hope that at some point the videos will be released but so far disappointment has taken center stage.
THE JUSTIN SMEJA STORY -
If you have not heard of this one, here it is in a nut shell. Smeja and a buddy was out hunting and he killed two bigfoots, one of which was a child bigfoot.
When I first got some of the details about this story I thought it could be real. Smeja is a very experienced hunter and he seems like a pretty nice guy, but did he shoot 2 bigfoot remains to be proven.
Some DNA samples from this reported event was also included in the Ketchum DNA study and was confirmed to be from bigfoot, but later another sample was sent to a different lab and the results came back a bear and human. So what is one to believe? There are rumors of some infighting between Smeja and Ketchum, could this have anything to do with it?
Smeja did passed a lie detector test, but this was quickly met with doubts by believers and skeptics alike due to how it all came about. I personally don't have much of an opinion about the lie detector part as they can be fooled and passed and are not even allowed in some court cases depending on the state.
In the end no real proof this event happened has been presented in a way to really prove it was real.
DAISY IN A BOX STORY -
This was the wildest most far fetched story to come down the pipe. Here was a elite secret unit of well trained sasquatch hunters, who managed to capture a live bigfoot. The only thing was there was no photos released and all the details were pretty vague. This was all started by a few post made on a forum and it grew it's own legs and started to run. This story was on almost every bigfoot blog and forum on the internet. In the end it turned out to be nothing more than a hoax. I personal was not disappointed in the story as I never believe it in the first place.

THE TENT VIDEO -
I know everyone has heard about this story. Rick Dyer reportedly killed a bigfoot in San Antonio, TX. When I first got into this story I thought it could have been real but later on the story changed a little so I backed away from it as something just didn't seem right.
Several people backed the story (some still do) and a few confirmed that Dyer had a real bigfoot body. As of today there has been no body shown to the public. The movie that came out about this event was called "Shooting Bigfoot" and after the showing many people were disappointed by the ending. The ending of the film you get to see a bigfoot type creature for about 3 seconds and you hear some gun fire but that's it. You never see the body in the film.
What this story managed to do was get the infighting to an all time high with many personal attacks in every corner of the bigfoot world.
In the end there is still no proof that Dyer has a bigfoot body. The best evidence to support this story is the Tent Video itself. It is a good video and has not officially been debunked (I guess) but there have been some reports that it is one of Dyer's friends (A large black man) dressed up or maybe in front of a green screen. There has been a ton of videos surrounding this story, I have made several myself, but in the end the body still has not been shown. The new target date for the showing of the body is said to be in August, this according to Dyer.
In the end this appears to be nothing more than a well rehearsed hoax. I invite everyone to do some research yourself and view the massive amounts of info about this story and make up your own mind.

HUNTER KILLED A BIGFOOT -
This is/was a new "I shot bigfoot" story and it even had a police report, but the real story was that no where in the 911 dispatch or police report did it involve a dead or shot bigfoot. All the man said was he had proof of bigfoot and his proof turned out to be nothing more than some bear tracks.
So what fueled this story? well it seem a few bigfoot blog sites pushed it as a hunter killing a bigfoot, I'm not sure who or where they got the info but once a story like that gets out it grows on it's own.

So as you can see disappointment in the bigfoot community has been coming a lot the last several months but don't let it get you down. This is not all of the disappointing stories, there are plenty more and I expect more to come in the future. I didn't even cover all the stump photos that are reported to be bigfoot.
These type of stories seem to do more harm to the bigfoot community as a whole than good. The infighting and the name calling has really went overboard the last year. This type of thing really takes away from people who are really trying to do honest research. It seems the wild stories and claims get a lot of attention but I guess that is the point.
2013 was said to be the year of bigfoot but so far it has turned out to be mostly disappointing. Sometimes life in general has disappointing moments but you can't give up, you just got to keep moving forward.
Hopefully the rest of the year will be filled with some good and true bigfoot stories. So lets just keep on squatchin'. (yeah I hate that word)

Video of an intriguing covered nest-like structure found abandoned in Arizona is being hailed as a possible home of the legendary Bigfoot.
With a narrow entrance and hollowed inside, the lair is buried half under the ground in the wild woods of the Tonto National Forest on the Mogollon Rim.
Discovered in June of 2010 and featuring on Animal Planet's current 'Finding Bigfoot' series, the footage of the large mysterious den unfortunately offers up little evidence that the fabled giant ape ever dwelt inside.

This unexplained structure in the forests around Arizona is believed by Bigfoot experts in the state to have housed the legendary ape-like creature
Filmed by Arizona researcher and Bigfoot expert Mitch Waite and his wife, Susan Farnsworth, the nest is reputed to be of the big-foot type creature called the Mogollon Monster, who crypto-zoologists believe inhabits the south west of the United States.
Sightings of the creature have been reported for decades by cowboys, drifters and forestry workers and some claim that the creature has attacked and mauled people.
The first reported sightings were in the early 1900s and continue to this day. Apache and Navajo native American people's have told the legend of the 'Big Hairy Man' or 'The Old Man of the Mountain' for hundreds of years.
According to Waite and Farnsworth, the Mogollon Monster has been seen in every corner of Arizona, however most center around the Mogollon Rim.

This afternoon, there were unconfirmed reports that a Bigfoot was shot and killed at an undisclosed location in Pennsylvania. The incident is being investigated by the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society. In order to preserve the validity of the evidence and to demonstrate inquiry decorum, the PBS states that further information will be forthcoming only after it is corroborated.

It is a slow news day, and a lot of readers have wanted me to post the story of my own personal encounter with Bigfoot, so here it is.
Way back in July of 1990 an ex-girlfriend and I were returning from a trip out to California, (I lived in New Mexico at the time) when we decided to stop by the Grand Canyon. My ex had never seen the canyon, so we decided to take the detour off I-40 and give it a look.
We spent a couple of hours along the rim of the canyon admiring the scenery. It was starting to get towards evening and the sun was beginning to set, so we decided to pack it in and start back on our long journey home. Being the typical male that I am, I pulled out my trusty road map to see if there was a shortcut back to the highway. I quickly discovered that Highway 180 cut through the mountains and led straight back to I-40 in Flagstaff. This route would save us a ton of time, so we headed out from the Grand Canyon towards our destination.
The trip started out normal enough. Just a typical drive through the mountains. There were few cars on the highway that evening, as I remember it, and the road was kinda curvy....winding through the mountains. By this time the sun had set and it was getting dark.
This is when it happened.
I remember coming around a curve in the highway and there was a long straight-away in front of us before the road turned again.
As we began to proceed down the straight section, we both noticed a very large animal walking down the right side of the road. Since I had just came out of a curve, the car wasn't moving very fast, and when I saw the animal, I slowed the car even further.
I remember my ex exclaiming, "Is that a bear?"
As we came closer to the animal, it became apparent quickly that what we were looking at was not a bear. There was a very large, hairy, mass walking away from us on two legs. I can still remember the arms swaying as it strolled naturally down the side of the road away from us.
As we got closer, about 50 yards or more as I remember it, the cars headlights shown past the creature. I was at that time that our companion on the highway became aware of our presence. It stopped, and I stopped.
I remember this vividly, the animal went to turn around to get a look at us. Now this was odd, because the animal had no neck, or not much of one, so it couldn't turn it's head to look at us, it had to turn its whole upper body.
That apparently wasn't good enough for the creature so it turned around completely to face us.
I remember my ex saying nervously, "What the hell is that?" I don't think that I answered her. I just sat there in amazement at what I was looking at, somehow trying to wrap my my mind around it.
What was there before us was this giant.....well ape. It was about seven to eight feet tall (about the same height as a road sign to my estimation), covered in brown fur, large....with very little definition. That is to say that it didn't have a typical human build. Kinda built like a 'brick-wall', like football lineman, large from head to toe.
Facially the animal looked a lot like a character from "Planet of the Apes." There were areas on the face that looked 'hairless', mostly around the eyes, nose and mouth. The eyes were like a cats, they reflected green in the light from the cars headlights. Overall looking very much like a 'great ape'.
The animal was covered in very 'shaggy' fur, possibly an inch or more in length. On the arms the hair was twice as long or so, than it was on the head and body. The color was mostly a chocolate brown color, but I remember there being lighter spots in some areas.
I had heard enough stories from my father, who was an avid hunter and owned a gun shop that catered to hunters, and seen enough TV to know exactly what we were confronted with, a Bigfoot.
The Bigfoot was very curious about us and our car. I could read it's facial expressions. I remember that I wasn't scared, the animal never acted in an aggressive manor.It just seemed to be as perplexed about my ex and I, as we were about it.
I remember the Bigfoot paused, and rubbed its tong across its front teeth, again in curiosity, like it was calculating it's next move.
It took one or two steps towards us and my ex went ballistic. Apparently she took the moves as a sign that it was going to attack us, I thought that it was just coming over to get a better look at us, anyway she pushed back into her seat and began screaming. The Bigfoot stopped its forward approach when she went off. Puzzled by the commotion, it stopped, then took two long strides into the timber, disappearing from site.
My girlfriend stopped her panic attack and we sat there silently looking at the spot where the creature once stood. I think we sat there for some time before I snapped out of my trance and decided to get out of there in case the Bigfoot came back.
I remember driving over onto the left hand side of the road, just in case the creature can charging out of the woods at us or something.
We looked into the woods as we drove past the spot where it had been, and saw nothing.
Amazingly after we had gotten back on I-40 in Flagstaff, we both acted as if nothing had happened.
In the days, and months, after our encounter, my girlfriend refused to talk about the incident. We, of course, broke up months later, and I haven't seen her since.
For years I kept the story about my run-in with Bigfoot to myself. I didn't want to be ridiculed, or called a liar, so I kept quite about it.
It wasn't until my wife April and I had been married for a few years that I shared the story with her. She was always perplexed at why I was so obsessive about TV shows and books about Bigfoot, so I told her my story. At first she had a hard time believing it, but she knows that I am an honest person, and she has seen how emotional I have been about it. She believes me now.
Wanting to help serious efforts to study the animal, I submitted my story to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization in 2005 (You can read the report - HERE). I was interviewed not too long after that by Cliff Barackman about the encounter. Barackman, who has done extensive research in both Arizona and California, told me that my sighting was just one of several that had been reported in that same area, that same year.
Now I know some of you out there are not going to believe me, that's okay, I don't care if you do or don't. I know what I saw.
You never ever believe in these sort of things, until they are right in front of you. Seeing is definitely believing!
