It is always reassuring when one of the most eminent specialists in your favoured field offers ideas that correspond to yours. Generously, Paul Davies has done just such a thing in his excellent SciAm article "Are Aliens Among Us?"

He starts by reflecting on the unresolved question of whether Earth is unique or whether life is prevalent everywhere. It seems bizarre to me that given the historical examination of meteorites, the astronomically observed clouds of cosmic dust, the clear evidence that basic life forms can survive in extreme conditions, the likelihood that water probably isn't a prerequisite and the commonly held scientific view that life will be found on Mars, that there are still people who believe that Earth stands alone. It is simply mathematically impossible. Davies says;
How can scientists determine which view is correct? The most direct way is to seek evidence for life on another planet, such as Mars. If life originated from scratch on two planets in a single solar system, it would decisively confirm the hypothesis of biological determinism. Unfortunately, it may be a long time before missions to the Red Planet are sophisticated enough to hunt for Martian life-forms and, if they indeed exist, to study such extraterrestrial biota in detail.
My only point of disagreement with him here is his definition of "a long time".
The remainder of his article reviews the possibilities of, using a term that he has borrowed from Carol Cleland and Shelley Copley of the University of Colorado, shadow life. This concept, which I believe to be a strong possibility, is that either alien life forms are already here or alternatively are the result of a previous genesis. When we talk of "alien life forms" we aren't referring to ET in the shape of a gray, but to microbial life, so exciting it isn't. It is more than conceivable that such forms exist and that science is simply not aware of them yet. There could even be one sitting on your sleeve at this minute.
Likewise with a previous genesis. There may be paleontological evidence of an earlier "start up" but discovering it is another matter.
This article is an outstanding overview of the areas where alien life might exist on Earth and how it might thrive. You may reason that if all we're talking about are effectively specks of dust, does any of it really matter? But the central issue of how life originated has, as yet, eluded us and any clue that can help us on our way to that answer has to be worth the effort.

A team of scientists, including Carnegie's Conel Alexander and Jianhua Wang, studied the hydrogen in water from the Martian interior and found that Mars formed from similar building blocks to that of Earth, but that there were differences in the later evolution of the two planets. This implies that terrestrial planets, including Earth, have similar water sources--chondritic meteorites. However, unlike on Earth, Martian rocks that contain atmospheric volatiles such as water, do not get recycled into the planet's deep interior. Their work will be published in the December 1 issue of Earth and Planetary Science Letters. It is available online.

Much controversy surrounds the origin, abundance and history of water on Mars. The sculpted channels of the Martian southern hemisphere speak loudly of flowing water, but this terrain is ancient. Consequently, planetary scientists often describe early Mars as "warm and wet" and current Mars as "cold and dry."
Debate in the scientific community focuses on how the interior and crust of Mars formed, and how they differ from those of Earth. To investigate the history of Martian water and other volatiles, scientists at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Carnegie, and the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Houston studied water concentrations and hydrogen isotopic compositions trapped inside crystals within two Martian meteorites. The meteorites, called shergottites, were of the same primitive nature, but one was rich in elements such as hydrogen, whereas the other was depleted.
The meteorites used in the study contain trapped basaltic liquids, and are pristine samples that sampled various Martian volatile element environments. One meteorite appears to have changed little on its way from the Martian mantle up to the surface of Mars. It has a hydrogen isotopic composition similar to that of Earth. The other meteorite appears to have sampled Martian crust that had been in contact with the Martian atmosphere. Thus, the meteorites represent two very different sources of water. One sampled water from the deep interior and represents the water that existed when Mars formed as a planet, whereas the other sampled the shallow crust and atmosphere.
"There are competing theories that account for the diverse compositions of Martian meteorites," said lead Tomohiro Usui. "Until this study there was no direct evidence that primitive Martian lavas contained material from the surface of Mars."
Because the hydrogen isotopic compositions of the two meteorites differ, the team inferred that martian surface water has had a different geologic history than Martian interior water. Most likely, atmospheric water has preferentially lost the lighter hydrogen isotope to space, and has preferentially retained the heavier hydrogen isotope (deuterium).
That the enriched meteorite has incorporated crustal and atmospheric water could help to solve an important mystery. Are Martian meteorites that are enriched in components, such as water, coming from an enriched, deep mantle, or have they been overprinted by interaction with the Martian crust?
"The hydrogen isotopic composition of the water in the enriched meteorite clearly indicates that they have been overprinted, so this meteorite tells scientists more about the Martian crust than about the Martian mantle," Alexander said. "Conversely, the other meteorite yields more information about the Martian interior."
The concentrations of water in the meteorites are also very different. One has a rather low water concentration and that means that the interior of Mars is rather dry. Conversely, the enriched basalt has 10 times more water than the other one, suggesting that the surface of Mars could have been very wet at one time. Therefore, scientists are now starting to learn which meteorites tell us about the Martian interior and which samples tell us about the Martian surface.
"To understand the geologic history of Mars, more information about both of these environments is needed," Alexander said.

THE LIVE BIGFOOT HUNTING SHOW COSTED 75 PER PERSON TO ATTEND
The live Bigfoot hunting show we posted about had some problems during the broadcast, such as audio feed back issues, but overall it was a good show. The participants paid about 75 dollars for an afternoon lecture and presentation at the Hampton Inn in Morehead.

Is it mystery solved or a cheap publicity stunt? In October 2012, LEX 18 told viewers about an unidentified flying object spotted in the southeastern Kentucky sky. The company, Google has now taken responsibility for the strange object, but the Pike County amateur astronomer who photographed it says he doesn't buy their explanation. The picture snapped by long-time amateur astronomer, Allen Epling shows a slim, seemingly cylinder object flying through the sky. "When I looked through the binoculars, I saw something that I couldn't identify and I'd never seen anything like it before," Epling recalled. The mystery captured the attention of national media outlets. Police in at least three states were contacted by people who claimed to have seen the UFO. What folks in Pike County and the surrounding areas witnessed, according to Google, was a test of "Project Loon." The new program consists of balloons that fly high above Earth's surface, forming a communication network. The aim is to bring internet to a large portion of the world's population, who otherwise wouldn't be connected. "The photos of balloons that Google launched don't match the video of what I saw," Epling told LEX 18 on Monday. "It'd be easy for one to say 'well, that's my object. I take credit for it.' And Google may be looking for some cheap publicity." LEX 18 reached out to Google for comment. While the company said this was, in fact, their balloon photographed, they declined to go into further detail.

In 1989, a man named Bob Lazar appeared in a broadcast on Las Vegas television station KLAS, claiming to be a physicist hired by the
government to reverse-engineer the propulsion system of saucer-shaped alien spacecraft.
The saucers, he maintained, were kept in a secret complex called S-4 at Papoose Lake, a dry lake bed located a few miles south of Groom Lake.
Lazar's claims, as well as many details of his background, have proved impossible to confirm. But their dissemination through the UFO-
enthusiastic grapevine transformed Area 51 into a mecca for saucer
seekers. They can be seen congregating, with their motor homes and lawn chairs, next to Nevada Route 375 at an icon called "The Black Mailbox."
This ordinary mailbox belongs to the rancher who leases grazing rights in the valley.
Many UFO watchers have kept vigils there for an aerial phenomenon
called "Old Faithful" - and gone home satisfied. Old Faithful is a
bright, barely moving light observed low in the sky for several minutes at about 4:45 a.m. on weekdays.
Last March, three chilly airplane watchers with binoculars atop White Sides Mountain at this magic hour were tracking a 737 airliner
approaching Groom Lake, as a fourth member of their group thawed out in his truck below. Parked on a knoll, he was next to a van-load of UFO seekers. They were led by tour operator Sean Morton, whose leaflet
describes him as "the world's foremost UFO researcher."
Morton donned a horned Viking helmet and from time to time pointed to the sky, exclaiming: "Look at that one!" The airplane watcher trained his binoculars in the same direction, but saw nothing out of the
ordinary. Later, Morton's group became excited by what they perceived as an entire formation of UFOs; the airplane watcher's lenses revealed only stars. Finally, as the morning's first 737 made its gentle
approach toward Groom Lake at 4:45, the UFO enthusiasts rejoiced at Old Faithful's appearance. Everyone had seen exactly what they hoped for.

Less than one month to a prior sighting of a pitch black light absorbing square, I witnessed it again on the opposite side of the sky. This time while moving it started to leave 4 straight lined vibrant blue lines then completely vanished out of site. It traveled roughly four inches across the sky, while leaving 4 lines one from each edge of a vibrant blue color. There was no arcing to the trails and they vanished immediately with the vehicle. Having always wondered what I was seeing, after viewing an episode of Hangar 1 with Bob Lazar and further research into the subject. It would appear that according to his explanation it turned on its warping technology, then engines, turned said engines off then disappeared through it's warp. Definitely an amazing site to see, the psychological aspect, was that I for some reason though of the word sita(Spanish for star and further a nickname for a friend I knew, but had not thought of for years.) before I decided to head out for a cigarette.

UFO SIGHTING IN OLEAN, NEW YORK ON SEPTEMBER 2ND 2013 - THIS WAS A CIRCULAR FIREBALL THAT HAD A LATERAL TRAJECTORY. IT WAS NOT A METEOR OR SHOOTING STAR. THIS WAS LARGE AND BENEATH THE CLOUDS AT NIGHT.
This took place in Olean, NY at about 8:30 pm. The object was a circular fireball that had a lateral trajectory. It was not a meteor or shooting star--it was large and beneath the clouds. At first, I assumed it must be an airplane or helicopter's light. However, as I looked closer, it was clearly a flaming ball of some sort. I've seen fireworks of all kinds and have never seen anything like this. The object, again, had a steady trajectory across the sky and did not lose velocity or brightness. I lost sight of the object when it went behind the treeline behind my home.

REPORT FROM MUFON: DATE OF EVENT: APRIL 14, 2011 "My wife and I were taking a walk and left the house a few minutes past 9:00 PM, PST. I shot a short video (32 sec) on my cell that is time stamped "04/14/2011 09:27 pm." We were watching the activity for about a minute and a half or two minutes before I began shooting. The footage does not reveal anything, but it recorded my wife and I talking about what we were seeing, and it marked the time. Twenty minutes later we saw two more UFOs. We were just taking a stroll around the neighborhood. We turned a corner and were facing west. Before us at this point was about five miles of open land, then there was the outline of the foothills spreading north and south. It is very dark where we were and we stopped to look at the starry sky. High in the sky at about "One O'clock" my wife and I saw a bright white light moving very quickly toward the south. It was first a fast moving ball of light, then a "contrail" appeared on the end of it. It wasn't a contrail, but a long trailing light like a rocket shooting up into space. But this was going north to south and there was no smoke. The contrail appeared only a few seconds. Then the light appeared to angle down and turn toward us (we were facing west). As it headed northeast (it was veering to our left) angling downward (but not steeply) it flared up and a fan of light radiated out from the front and trailed behind. It was even all the way around and trailed off like a mist of light. We could see the main white light inside this fountain of light that shot out the "front." Then the fan of light faded, leaving just the ball of light which then disappeared as well. We scanned the sky and the white light appeared again about five seconds later, but it was bigger and closer (but still very far away). This then disappeared and reappeared very quickly even closer and lower. The ball of light then radiated a fountain of light again, but it was red and the white ball inside was now red. This red fan or fountain of light seemed to hover for what seemed a long time, but it was maybe a good 3 or four seconds. The fountain ended, leaving only the ball of now red light and the thing then veered upward and disappeared. We live near an air force base and know the sounds of jets and helicopters.
