Great Britain Ufo Wave
Recently, there has been a wave of UFO sightings over Great Britain, which has been well publicized in the media there, and highlighted on many American UFO web sites, and other media. The bulk of these sightings began in April of this year, with the most concentrated reports being made in May and June.

Skeptics, however, have written the reports off as being caused by different types of balloons, kites, or the ever present Chinese lanterns, although these have been confirmed as the source of only a few of the many sightings.

Below find a list of the most significant sightings from the United Kingdom in chronological order. Each listing has its original source listed. A number of the Internet newspaper reports have streaming video and/or photographic evidence.

On 04-25-08, A Russian Tourist took a photograph of an unknown flying object while visiting a park in Croydon, in the southern part of London. View the report and photo at:

On 05-10-08, A Gravesend, Kent, teenager took photographs of two unknown objects with his father's digital camera. You can see the photos and read the original report at:

Also on 05-10-08, an elderly couple from Dorking saw and videotaped an elongated, or rod-like object, moving over the houses of their neighborhood. See the report and photograph at:

Barry Knaggs, of Derbyshire, took one of the best photographs to date of a UFO during the Great Britain wave. Photo was taken in Spennymoor, Durham, on the May 24-25 weekend. You can view the report and photograph at:

A Shropshire Star report released on 06-05-08, relates a report from Gavin Stevens, of Malinslee, who spotted a green, pear-shaped object hovering in the skies over Telford. You can read the original report at:

On 06-07-08, a UFO was caught on videotape in Clapham. The objects were seen hovering above the streets of Bedfordshire. The footage shows seven red lights, which stayed in formation for about 2 1/2 minutes. The incident was not released publicly for over 3 weeks. See the report and video film at:

On 06-07-08, the Gross family of Woodford Green, spotted a mysterious craft over Wanstead and Woodford. The sighting began a UFO controversy among the residents of the town. You can view their report at:

On 06-07-08, Corporal Mark Proctor claimed that he and other military men saw thirteen UFOs flying above their barracks. The incident occurred at the Tern Hill barracks near Market Drayton, Shropshire. Proctor filmed the objects, and reported his findings to his superiors. This case is still being investigated. This incident was not released publicly for 18 days. See the original listing at:

Occurring only a couple of hours after the barracks report above, another incident with great impact on the media occurred in Wales on 06-07-08, when a police helicopter was buzzed by a "flying saucer," according to the three-man crew. The helicopter was attempting to land at Ministry of Defence base in St Athan, near Cardiff. This case is being heavily investigated. See the original report, which was not released until 13 days after the incident by the way, at:

Shortly after this report was made public, it was alleged that Chinese lanterns released at a wedding party could have accounted for the report. Although there has been no "official" conclusion on this case, it is very difficult for me to believe that a helicopter crew could mistake a lantern, kite, or balloon for a "flying saucer."

Also on 06-07-08, reports of strange, orange lights to oddly moving silver discs are made to British newspapers. Video film is taken. The report and film can be seen at:
