In an excellent article by Mark Townsend, defense correspondent for the Guardian Unlimited (UK), the depth of official interest in UFO phenomena is revealed:

"The public opening of the MoD [UK Ministry of Defence] archive will expose the once highly classified work of the intelligence branch DI55, whose mission was to investigate UFO reports and whose existence was denied by the government until recently... Although the government remains reticent to discuss its intelligence work on UFOs, it is known that DI55 has been hot on the trail of flying saucers since the Sixties. Experts admit that they work closely with the security services MI5, MI6 and GCHQ to collect and assess evidence of potential threats to Britain."Is this the reason for American intelligence concerns that a British Secret Intelligence Service MI-6 agent working under non-official-cover (NOC) was attempting to gain access to a former USAF OSI intelligence officer known for leaking UFO information and disinformation?

One item remains on the table awaiting disclosure: Is there any real connection to the CIA's Glomar Recovery operation and UFOs? Two AVIAN spy gamers have known associations to the once ultra-secret CIA project.
