"QUESTION BY DANIELLE": WHAT ARE THE FUN PLACES TO VISIT IN ROSWELL?
We're driving to Roswell from Alamogordo, primarily for the UFO Museum, but what are the other fun attractions for a 24 year old (me), my husband, and my brother who is 20. I asked this before and people told me bars, that is not an option. The other 2 art museums looked kind of boring. We're ADD so we need shiny objects and hands on stuff!

It's been over 5 years since I was there, but I'm sure the UFO museum is still there. That was interesting & they do have lots of stuff to look at. There was also some warehouse that was a "haunted house/fun house" type of place..... sorta like a maze you had to wander through with people jumping out at you & making noises. There's a bunch of alien-themed souvenir shops. The whole town is filled with alien-related stuff.

Witness report: "I was driving home last night, which is in an elevated part of the north valley.. I always can see the city lights, airplane traffic, Luke jets etc. I glance over and see 4 HUGE glwoing orangish goldish lights hovering over the valley (if I had to guess the area would be I-10ish and maybe right around 11lth ave) I immediately pulled over and started taking pictures with my cell phone. I also took video as well. My dad and I are always talking about UFOs and such so I went ahead and called him to let him know what I was witnessing and then a second set of lights this one was 3 of the the same type of orangish goldish lights. About 2 minutes after that one appeared the first set had 3 lights go out and the last fade out. since I was on the phone I was not able to get a picture of the two sets together. It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen and if I had to guess I would say whatever each set of lights was attached to had to be at least the size of two city blocks. Upon reviewing online it sounds like quite a few people have witnessed similar evens over the past few weeks. The lights appeared very bright and seemed to pulsate and almost change color slightly they seemed to get bigger and smaller but always stayed right in line with each other so definitely appeared they were connected to something.. I have seen plenty of military flares in my life time and watched several shows after the 97 lights and how they tried to make the flares look just like the lights over Phoenix with no luck.. These were DEFINTELY not flares! "

Starship Invasions
(AKA Alien Encounter, Project Genocide, War of the Aliens) 1977, Starring Robert Vaughn, Christopher Lee, Daniel Pilon, Helen Shaver, Henry Ramer. Directed by Ed Hunt.
Made in the late 1970s, Starship Invasions was a fairly blatant attempt to capitalize on the resurgence of interest in sci-fi spearheaded by Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. This obviously low-budget attempt may have unconvincing sets and an overly complicated plot, but don't count it out yet. Starship Invasions still has a few tricks up it's tinfoil-wrapped sleeve, not the least of which is two big name actors- Christopher Lee and Napoleon Solo himself, Mr. Robert Vaughn.
Although Starship Invasions' director Ed Hunt is an American, his resume uncannily reads like many of our native schlock filmmakers. Living in the U.S. but filming almost exclusively in the Great White North, Hunt started his career with a couple of softcore features, Diary of a Sinner (1974) and Pleasure Palace (1973), an obscurity notable for starring current CBC personality Vicki Gabereau. His next film, the virtually unseen UFO story Point of No Return steered Hunt into the more commercial territory of horror and science fiction. It was here that Hunt would finish out his career with 1988's fun amalgam of genre clichs, The Brain.
Made just after Point of No Return, Starship Invasions has so far proved to be Hunt's most sought-after film, perhaps because of the sheer ambitiousness of it all. Never again would Hunt work with such talented performers, and the budgets of his other films rarely approached even half of what was spent on this epic. It also helps that Hunt's films are generally enjoyable trash, and despite the fact that Starship Invasions has it's share of problems, it's definitely a film that would benefit from a DVD release.
Perched atop his tractor, a chubby farmer named Rudy calmly watches a UFO land in his field, and remains unfazed as two men in black body leotards emerge and hustle him aboard. Rudy languidly submits to a couple of probes, but starts to get interested in his perdicament when a naked women suddenly appears to seduce him. How's that for grabbing your audience in the first scene? The next day Rudy tells his tale to a smirking police detective, and is laughed off as a moonshine guzzlin' hick. Spurned, Rudy invites true believer and UFO enthusiast Professor Allan Duncan (Vaughn) to visit the landing site. Duncan examines the scorched field, and tells Rudy that aliens have been visiting Earth for years. When they finally reveal themselves, nobody will laugh at him again!
Meanwhile, back aboard the UFO, Captain Rameses (Lee) and his crew from planet Alpha are back to their old kidnapping ways. Rudy the dirt farmer proved to be such an ideal male specimen that they decide to probe an Earth female as well. Rameses reveals that since their sun is about to supernova, the Alphanians are looking for a new planet to colonize. Once they find a suitable place, they will kill all the inhabitants, and signal their other ships currently hiding behind the moon. But there's a problem: unbeknownst to the puny earthlings, their home is protected by a "galactic treaty" established by an intergalactic council called "The League of Races."
If you were the League of Races, where would you hide your Earth headquarters? If you said "Under the ocean in a giant pyramid," give yourself five space points. Landing at the base with anything but honest intentions, Ramses is taken to the head of the League by an android named Durbal. On closer inspection, Durbal seems to be a man in a silver snow suit with a coffee urn strapped to his head. While Ramses distracts the council, the other Alphanians sabotage a League UFO, causing it to be spotted and destroyed by the army on a routine surveillance flight. In the confusion this causes, Rameses and his crew put miniature laser guns on their fingers and take over the pyramid, seriously injuring our beloved Durbal. Moving into the next phase of his plan, Rameses contacts another Alphanian ship which orbits the Earth with a "suicide ray." Turning this ray on our cities, ordinary citizens suddenly go crazy, and after a brief killing spree, take their own life.
But what Rameses hadn't counted on is that one League UFOs manages to slip away. Two dedicated Leauge of Races representatives swing by and pick up Professor Allan Duncan and his best buddy Malcom, a computer expert (and newly converted UFO skeptic). With Malcom's help, they are able to modify the UFO's communications systems to send an S.O.S. to League ships on nearby planets.

When Kenneth Arnold first spotted objects he described as "saucers" skipping across water, the term "flying saucer" was coined. Since then, UFOs have been described as having many different shapes, such as boomerang, cigar-shaped, triangles, V-shaped, orbs or spheres, etc. But a motorist in New Zealand may have spotted a new breed of unidentified flying object: the one that looks like a car.

A mechanic from Rutherglen, New Zealand claims he saw a "car-shaped" object ascend from the street and shoot into the night sky.
On Tuesday, August 6 at approximately 8:45 p.m., Matthew Robert reports that he was driving on Rutherglen Road, south of Greymouth, when he encountered the UFO. He explains,
"I was changing a CD as I was driving and when I looked up I saw what looked like a car without its lights on, stopped in the middle of the road outside Shantytown. I slammed on my brakes and my eyes were still trying to focus, when suddenly the thing just lit up and shot into the sky."

Robert claims that at least three other drivers stopped because of the UFO, but all witnesses were so startled by the event that they "left in such a hurry they left skid marks on the road." According to the "New Zealand Herald", Robert asserts that, immediately after seeing the flying car UFO, he lost cellphone reception and experienced blurred vision and watery eyes for an hour. Following the incident, Robert picked up his partner, Charlotte Rose, from work in Greymouth. The "New Zealand Herald" reports that Rose knew something had happened to Robert when she saw him that night. She describes, "I just looked at him and I could tell something bad had happened, he was freaked out and his eyes were watery."
Robert knows other motorists witnessed the flying car UFO, and hopes they come forward to confirm his claims. Robert told the "New Zealand Herald", "I know people are going to think that it's crazy, but I know what I saw."
A very interesting story, to be sure. Unlike what we were promised, there are still no flying cars available to the public, despite this being the 21st century. So what did this man see? Perhaps a small scout UFO. Or maybe some sort of military experiment. He claims there were other witnesses, but without anyone stepping forward, it's just another story. I guess we'll just have to keep watching the skiesfor cars.
