Contactees Dana Howard in Daniel Fry's Understanding newsletter.
I received a nice e-mail from Sean Donovan, who runs the Daniel Fry.com website. He let me know that Dana Howard wrote or appeared in several issues of Fry's newsletter Understanding, and very kindly provided links to more information. (The Daniel Fry website is a valuable resource, well maintained. It takes a lot of work to do something like that!)
In Understanding, Volume 1, Number 10, October 1956 issue, Howard wrote Upon Another Dawn. Dana Howard writes about a New Age that "will soon be delivered." This new era is one of love, "replacing the worn our concept of "fear God whom thouh hans't not seen anc can'st never know. Of the spaceships, she writes:
While flying saucer sightings have been somewhat on the wane this past year, many more around the world are making subjective contact with space people. The reports are identical in every instance... the outlook on life has been changed in "the twinkling of an eye." Some are cognizant of these space visitors. Others know intuitively they have made contact. They know because something inside tells them it is so.
Venus is the new heaven in Dana Howard's world, and America is the home of this New Age of love and higher understanding:
"Only this, our Planet Venus, has known the fullness of perfection. But, step by step each and every planet in the broad universal system must climb the golden stairs. Child of Earth... your own America is the hope of your planet. She shall rise to her greatness, a haven for all who seek rest. With the coming of the New Dispensation, America, the land that has housed so many races, shall rise. Her banner of freedom shall wave in all its glory."
Under the wise leadership of those from On High, people will be gathered together in one fold. In that day America will 'become the brightest star in the galaxy, for right here in our own land we will establish an empire: of peace.

OCTOBER 5, 2010-British paranormal expert Richard Lawrence discussed ET contacts and communications, UFO disclosure, and ancient reports of UFOs. He spoke about various contactees such as George Adamski, and George King, who founded the Aetherius Society and channeled messages from benevolent ET beings or "Space Masters." One of themes that runs across the various communications from ETs is the importance of spirituality throughout the universe, Lawrence noted.
King spoke about intelligences from within our solar system and multi-dimensional existences, while 1950s contactee Dan Fry said the beings he interacted with were from the past, specifically the civilization of Atlantis. In King's book, The Nine Freedoms, he shares ET information about humankind's evolution-- one of the first evolutionary steps is bravery, to think outside of the standard conditioning, and another step is to become oriented toward service-to-others, rather than service-to-self.
Ancient Sanskrit texts refer to vimanas-- flying celestial vehicles, which could "cause the entire sky to blaze." Some of these writings specifically describe the propulsion systems, he added. A UFO incident that took place in 1180 AD in Japan concerned a shiny aerial object that changed directions, vanished, and reappeared. It was referred to as a "flying earthenware vessel, so the [term] 'flying saucer' was actually coined back in the 12th century," Lawrence mused, adding that Alexander the Great and Columbus were also said to have UFO sightings.

The first days of my life are somehow related with the UFO phenomenon. My given name, "Marla," comes from an unusual source: A UFO contactee in M'exico. My mom said that, in the 70's, there used to be a very famous contactee who's name was "Maria del Socorro Perez" aka "Marla." This woman allegedly received teachings from the "Hermanos Mayores" ("Elder Siblings" - referring to people from another planet) and, somehow, she found a popular national show on TV (Esta Noche con Manolo Fabregas) to convey the aliens' messages.
Besides conveying these messages, Marla had her own healing methods based in those teachings. She called it "Electronic Medicine" or "Quantum Medicine." She created a healing center and, I suppose that, for awhile, her business was popular and prospered. Her experiences as a contactee resonated with my Mom (who, at the time, believed such a possibility could exist) and she even took us all to the big city of M'exico, D.F. to meet with Marla. The main purpose of that visit was to help one of my cousins (who at the time suffered from epileptic seizures) to get better. Did my cousin get better? I don't know. I don't remember what my mom said at that time. I haven't talked to her about this topic since two blue moons ago. However, I remember my cousin always taking medication so I am going to guess not.

During the "Kristine" era another important event in the history of the UFOCCI took place. One of the contactees was from Texas. She lived in the Bothell, Washington area. Because she was a real estate agent she got a call from a person she knew in Texas who wanted to come to Seattle and invest. Purportedly he was a millionaire who had made his money from oil. The day he arrived happened to fall on the day of our monthly meeting. She asked if he could come along. Since our By-Laws as a non-profit organization stipulate our meetings are open to the public we said yes. Later we wished we had answered no.
Have you ever seen a mountain walking? When this man came walking up to the door he filled it! He was one of the biggest men I have ever seen. To top that off he was wearing a "10 gallon hat." His name was J.D. Now doesn't that sound like a name straight from Texas? From the beginning we had our suspicions about him. Later our feelings were confirmed.
J.D. stayed with the contactee from Texas. It wasn't long until he knew all her real estate friends, spent money like water (all on credit), and started proceedings (on paper) to purchase a mortgage company. Later we learned he established a Carte Blanche line of credit with Safeway. The Texas contactee then began to notice checks missing from her checkbook. When questioned he had a ready answer that sounded valid.
At that time Kristine was married to a man that could not comprehend her contact situation. When she met J.D., he expressed an interest in her. He promised to buy her a 350 SL Mercedes which she had always longed for, so she left her husband.
Isn't it funny what fate has in store for you, without even trying?!
J.D. made the statement that he knew where he could pick up a car pretty reasonable, only he would have to fly down on his private jet to Hot Springs, Arkansas to buy it. I asked him if he would mind bringing back one of the contactees that had been wanting to come to Seattle for a long time. She lived in Mountain Pine, Arkansas which was right next door to Hot Springs. He said no problem, what is her name. I told him. I also told him where she worked. He said, "Oh, I know the President of that company. He will let her go if I ask him."
When J.D. arrived in Seattle he had pictures of his ranch in Texas. It looked rather peculiar for a ranch. It was supposed to be situated on Cato Lake near "Uncertain, Texas." The picture looked more like a long building used for something else. It had moss hanging on the trees, and in general looked like it was located in the swamps.
At that point FATE stepped in!
I called the contactee in Mt. Pine, Arkansas to tell her that J.D. would be calling her. She asked for his full name. I told her what he had said about her boss. At the first opportunity she asked her boss about J.D. This was the first confirmation to our uneasy feeling we had about this character. Her boss said, "You mean that two bit crook from over in Uncertain, Texas? I know who he is, but he is no friend of mine. I met him once in a bar and he tried to con me. I knew right away he was bad news!"
That was all I needed to hear to pursue finding out just who this guy was. I called for the police department's number in Uncertain. It was such a small town that there was none. I got the closest town with a police department and talked to the person in charge. He then told me who the Constable was in Uncertain. I called him and found out that he knew of a con man by the name of J.D. He asked me what he looked like. I described him. I mean, when you weight 350 pounds you can't hide too easily! He said J.D. was wanted in Texas for a con game he pulled on a guy in Dallas. He order 25 Mercedes on this man's credit.
I also asked the Constable if he had heard of Cato Lake? He said it was a fishing lake near Uncertain, Texas. I told him about J.D.'s ranch house. He said, "Oh that -- that is an old defunct fishing lodge." Obviously the picture was taken when the fishing lodge was new.
After we heard the background on J.D. it was with dismay that several of our members were quitting their jobs to go to work for him in his new "enterprise," which was strictly on paper. We asked them to our home to talk to them about what we had learned. The first words they said were, don't try to talk us out of this -- even before we had the chance to tell them. Unfortunately both of these women were over 55. They had good jobs with an insurance company where they had worked for many years. J.D. had worked on them from the point of their secret ambitions. He promised them that later he would build an art studio and gift shop which they would be in charge of. That was their secret dream. They quit their jobs. Within a month everything was over. They both blamed us for not preventing this from happening!
In the meantime J.D. was not through with hurting people. The boyfriend of the Texas contactee believed him too. Unfortunately he talked him into signing over his Cadillac and his farm to J.D. The Cadillac he never saw again. The farm, of course, never had any payments made on it so it reverted to the mortgage company.
As I said, Kristine left her husband for J.D. He had the gift of a smooth talker. The "boys upstairs" made an arrangement so that she would hear the truth. Kristine had also moved up to the Texas contactee's home when she broke up with her husband. She met the contactee's nephew there. One day he asked her to go to lunch. They were sitting in a booth in a caf'e in Bothell, Washington. In the booth next to them were two men. Both looked like "hoods," as Kristine put it. They had on leather jackets, gold chains and boots. At one point the nephew got up to go to the bathroom. Kristine had nothing to do so she was just sitting there sort of listening to the men in the next booth. (As I always say, nothing happens by accident!) All of a sudden her ears perked up. One of them said to the other, "What are we going to do to help J.D. He needs to get out of town fast before they catch him." The other one said, "Oh, he is just a small time operator, quit worrying about him." The other one replied that they should stick together and help him. At this point the nephew came back. Kristine wanted to leave immediately. She was then very frightened to think what J.D. would do to her if he knew what she had discovered; that he was not a millionaire, he was a crook that had taken every one that became involved with him.
The nephew took her back to the contactee's house. They packed all their things and left before J.D. came back. At that time they reported him to the police. The police had an all points bulletin out on him but he was too wiley and got away.
The boyfriend of the contactee from Texas still believed in J.D. at this point. He was taking J.D. to Oklahoma to visit his "sick" mother. On the outskirts of Reno, somewhere in the desert, they came to a parting of the ways. Somehow J.D. got him to sign the Cadillac over to him (so he wouldn't be picked up for car theft, obviously) and left the poor guy stranded. By this time the boyfriend's money was gone and he didn't have enough to get home. People he knew in Seattle sent him the money.
He said J.D. had completely changed his appearance. Dyed his blonde hair black and combed it slicked back and had a mustache. He wore horn-rimmed glasses. You would never know it was the same person. That was the last we heard of J.D. Thank goodness!
Kristine ended up going to California with the nephew. The two ladies looked for work for two years. They sold all of their possessions just to meet their daily needs. The contatee from Texas started her career over and the boyfriend we never heard about again.
My anomalistic research has been almost entirely in the field of UFO history, particularly using the U.S. government documents gained through the Freedom of Information Act to base it upon solid evidence. Rarely has this research cross-fertilized with my interest in the psychic and spiritual, but occasionally the two unlike paths do intersect. One such instance relates to today's post. Early in the history of the UFO subject [1950s] there arose a group of persons claiming to be receiving direct messages from people "flying" the disks. These persons got the nickname "contactees" and had a large and negative effect on the general public's willingness to take the UFO concept seriously. It was completely understandable. The Contactees claim to converse with people from every known planet plus many unknown ones. Although the messages often had themes of love and anti-war [even early pro-environment ideas], most of the "transcripts" were vague platitudes, and "scientific" nonsense bordering on gibberish. Almost all these Contactees got their messages by "trance-control" methods--so they claimed. I know for certain that this, in some sense, is true. It is true, because, some years ago, I decided to preserve the archival files of one of the most famous of these people, a man named George Hunt Williamson. GHW was a very influential person in this early "new age" movement and easily the most creative. [he's the fellow at the upper left]. My rationale for preserving his files was not that he could tell you much about UFOs, but he was an extreme case of an intellectual and behavioral response [for better or worse] to them. I've never regretted spending the money on this preservation as the files are endlessly entertaining if nothing else.
GHW got his contacts from outer space by Ouija. Several other of the contactees used Ouija or derivative methods to receive their messages as well. GHW believed that what was happening in Ouija was that one gave oneself over to the board and spiritual entities, not really "dead persons", took over your own body in order to communicate. [so, in some sense, "you" DO push the planchet; it's just where the "other" wants it pushed]. GHW would, at the drop of a whim, whip out a large sheet of paper, draw the requisite letters et al, and grab a glass and off he would go spinning the glass so rapidly around the make-shift "board" that a transcriber could barely keep up. When that became too cumbersome, he graduated to just "going into an altered state" and simply vocalizing what his spiritual contact had to say. Thus, in GHW's and most other "space brothers" contactees minds, Ouija and Trance-control Mediumship were exactly the same thing.
How true were the messages? To my reading of them, and given the advantage of 50 years of objective evaluative distance, they were utter nonsense. Take this bit of a trance reading as an example and you can make your own evaluation: Question-Is there a space group working under the name [of Ashtar] that's on the Black side? Answer-" There is a particular group that is nothing but a group of beings that operate a gigantic mechanical brain or computer, to which I believe you have heard your friend to the south refer [reference to another channeler]. It is one of the computers that was left after the collapse of the Galactic Administration, or Galactic Empire. Now Ashtar is then a code name for this great computer, and these many beings that operate it will pass through certain questions desiring answers. It is not infallible. There is a reason why it has the name Ashtar, which I will not go into at the moment, but it is also in connection with Astarte. In other words, it is the cause not the effect--it is the cause from which came the name Astarte in the first place (or "Ashtaroth") because the Ashtar computing system or the Ashtar computer was used primarily for the computation of sexual and physical problems of fertility, both in crops or plants, animals, and man. Is that point clear? Are you beginning to get the picture?"...actually I think that I am.
Now, I hope that it strains your credulity that anyone could take this sort of "revelation" seriously; but they most certainly did. That reading is taken from a book of trance readings compiled by GHW and a group of U.S. citizens who decided to call themselves the Brotherhood of the Seven Rays [no, I'm not kidding]. This was NOT a scam. These people believed all this completely. How do I know? These people quit their jobs, uprooted their families, and moved to the Peruvian jungles to outlast the coming Earth cataclysm and find the lost Temples of the Ancient Brotherhood and rejoin our long-lost Atlantaen forebears, still hermetically present waiting for those of us advanced enough to find them. This combination of Earth "doomsday-ism" and finding the lost super-civilization of Paititi in South America was a message begun by Dorothy Martin of Chicago, who, taking the name of "Sister Thedra", channeled various ascended masters who told her all this. [Thedra is at upper right]. This wowed Michigan State Professor Charles Laughead [lower left], who began warning the rest of us that doomsday was imminent. Michigan State was not amused and fired him. Undampened by this, since Michigan State and Michigan itself would be "gone" in the cataclysm soon anyway, Laughead, Thedra, GHW, and several others went first to New Mexico [to get precise directions from their Ouija masters] and then on to "rural", to put it mildly, Peru. Shockingly, the world did not end, nor have any easily recognizable cataclysms occurred [you may object by filling in the names of certain politicians if you insist, but I don't think that's what GHW et al were talking about]. The whole affair is chronicled in "When Prophecy Fails ", a book which uses only their aliases, but these are the real folks.
Part of the bottom line in this for me has been: don't underestimate the ability of some of us to fall for almost anything; and make life-changing commitments based on fear or wishful thinking. But I will not just leave this at that [foolish people fooling themselves]. The "evidence", anecdotal as it is, points, to me, towards the view that often the Ouija, or the "channeling", or the "automatic writing", truly contacts something. That contact may not always be deceptive, but it often is. In fact, deception seems to be the majority behavior in these stories, when taken as an aggregate. Young people are easily deceived. Fearful people and people with little "foundation" are easily deceived. What's behind that deception I can't claim to know, but it seems to require a certain degree of real spirituality to avoid turning you towards a personal "bad place". In UFO history, we also saw a somewhat similarly "led-astray" group [Heaven's Gate] mass-suicide on the basis of this deception. Is it all based on similar evil intent? No. I have a good and very spiritual friend who contacts his "spirit guide" through automatic writing, whatever that really amounts to. He thrives in this, I believe, because he is already a depth-spiritual and loving person. Are you?

Welcome to the year 2013.
Doesn't that year have an interesting sound to it? I was raised to be somewhat superstituous, with interesting habits such as never washing clothes on New Year's Day (as you could wash a loved one out of your life... well, better safe than sorry, right?). I never really minded numbers though, as numerology just doesn't make any sort of sense to my mind, and the number 13 seems just like most others to me, only special perhaps because it's Prime.

Full Description of event/sighting: Hi Brian, I was on the phone with my sister and I was sitting in my room looking out my window when I noticed a very bright red star to the south west of my house. I was looking at it off and on while in conversation with my sister, and noticed that it looked like it kept going behind this mountain, that's also to my south west. Then I left the room to throw my laundry in and hung up with my sister then went outside to take another look. The thing I was staring at before became very large! At first it looked like a line of lights, about 4 of them all brightly lit sort of reddish then white, they were twinkling those colors. And it was just hovering over the mountain. I was in pure shock! I ran in the house and made my 16 year old brother come out and look because I didn't want to be the only one to see this. He looked and was as shocked as me, he kept asking what the hell is that, it's just hovering there.
He went and got his binoculars and I took a look and I couldn't see the craft itself, all I could see was balls of light all in a row, so I'm not sure if it was just one giant craft or individual. Then they looked like they went lower than the mountain. We looked again through the binoculars and it looked as though it landed on the mountain itself and all we could see was two lights instead of four, like when it was above the mountain. Also one light on the left side kept glowing red a lot, the other was pure white. It appeared to be on the mountain. It then got very dim and all we could see was one little bit of light coming from that area. We waited, nothing, so we came in the house for a few minutes and I went back to my room and looked and all I could see was a very dim light, then all of a sudden they were all back, all four of them and I got my brother again and went back out on the deck.
We watched it go back to hovering above the mountain just as bright as before. Then one light dimmed out, then another and another until they all dimmed and could not be seen. The whole incident lasted about a hour starting from when I was on the phone until they all dimmed out. This experience made me feel very uncomfortable. This mountain is only about 6 miles down the road from me.
Also the strange humming sounds have come back late at night around 2:00 in the morning. About 7 or 8 months or so ago I had something happen to me that has never ever happened before, I'm telling you Brian because I feel like I really need to get this off my chest because its been eating at me for a long time now and I don't know what to make of it.
One night while I was asleep I awoke all of a sudden and I couldn't move, I couldn't move a toe, a finger nothing. I was completely paralyzed. And there was very loud ringing in my ears, so loud it felt like it was in my head and it was making me grind my teeth. It would get loud then soft, and back to loud again. Then I felt like there was something in my room but I couldn't see anything, and I was looking all around with my eyes but couldn't see anything to be afraid of, but was scared out of my mind. Maybe due to the fact that I couldn't move and there was this very loud ringing going on, but I felt not alone. My husband was fast asleep beside me the whole time. Then I guess I went back to sleep somehow and I awoke again two hours later and sat up in bed and thought what the hell ?
I didn't know what to make of it. I looked up sleep paralysis and I figured that must have been what happened to me. I never told anyone because I didn't want anyone to think I'm out of my mind, or I am making things up. Anyway that's been eating at me ever since because it seems that every time I read about UFOs or even see something that could be one and I get this uncomfortable feeling in my stomach, I almost feel nauseated. I haven't reported anything I've seen or heard on here for the past while because the simple fact that I just don't want to see UFOs anymore, but I do and they are here, and I feel that it's my duty to report.

The cemetery has twenty graves, including several infants who died in the harsh conditions here.Museum of the Southwest - Midland, TX - One-time mansion haunted by the ghost of its former owner.Alamo Street Theater and Restaurant - San Antonio, TX - Haunted by several unknown spirits, including "Little Eddie" and Margaret Gething (singer).Spanish Governor's Palace - San Antonio, TX - Haunted by the spirit of a girl who drowned in a well. Unexplained voices, lights turning off and footsteps.Mision San Antonio de Valero (the Alamo)- San Antonio, TX - Est. 1718. Phantom re-enactments of the famous Battle at the Alamo occur as well as soldiers, emerging from the walls at night. Ghostly monks have been witnessed as well. A nightly watch of the walls where the ghosts were said to emerge was conducted with no noticeable activity.The Menger Hotel - San Antonio, TX - Oldest hotel in San Antonio overlooks the Alamo. Haunted by the ghost of a maid and a judge. Teddy Roosevelt recruited his "Rough Riders" in the Menger's bar. Next door is the Alamo. Many claim to see the spirits of Soldiers emerging from its walls at night. My suite overlooked the Alamo and so I had a perfect vantage from which to surveil that location. But several vigils of both the hotel and the mission yielded little of interest.River Center Mall - San Antonio, TX - To the north of the Menger is the Alamo; to the south is the River Center Mall, all of which was once the battleground for that tragic conflict. Some say those men's ghostly cries can still be heard in this mall.The Missions of San Francisco, San Juan Capistrano and San Jacinto along "Mission Trail" South of San Antonio, TX - Ghostly chanting and knocking has been heard and the apparitions of padres and Indians have been seen.La Villita (The Little Village)- San Antonio, TX - The old village of San Antonio is preserved and the historic buildings (many from territorial times) house art galleries and gift shops. The Chamade Jewelry store (504 Villita St) has witnessed spontaneous kinetic manifestations (objects moving of their own accord), arguing voices, cold spots and a woman in an apron. The River Art Gallery is home to a "Woman in White." The Starving Artist's Gallery has experienced shadows, objects moving, and a woman in nineteenth century attire. La Villita house, built in 1864 by Cirius Gissi, is home to the spirit of a little girl.Marfa Lights - South, Southeast of Marfa, TX - Lights appear in the desert southeast of town without explanation. When I visited this spot, I saw only the lights from distant ranch houses, radio towers, and cars coming down the Chinati Mountains.Monahans Sand Hills State Park - Monahans, TX - The visitor's center, which sits atop a Native American burial site, is said to house the following phenomena: doors slamming, shadows and phantom shrieks, all of unknown origin. I was unable to detect any phenomena and the attendant on duty was unaware of said tales.Lake Worth - Lake Worth, TX - This lake, between Lake Worth and Fort Worth, was the scene in the late sixties of the Lake Worth Monster sightings. A white, Bigfoot-like creature had been seen by locals. At the time this event transpired, this area may have been more wild but these days, the lake is a popular spot and home, industrial complexes and urban centers nearly surround the area.Science Building - Odessa College - Haunted by the ghost of a student, male. Apparition has been seen but usually only "sensed" in a shadowy manner. A few visits were made without results and few witnesses could be found to corroborate the legend.Cliff Palace, Mesa Verde, CO--the ghosts of Anasazi cliff dwellers are said to still perform sacred ceremonies here in this city built into the canyon wall.Sego Canyon, UT--Aside from a cool ghost town, the canyon is also home to mysterious petroglyphs and pictograms that some believe depict visitors from other worlds.Tucson, AZ: Haunted Hotel Congress and San Xavier MissionTombstone, AZ: Bird Cage Theater, Wells Fargo Bldg.The Lodge at Cloudcroft - Cloudcroft, NM - Haunted by "Rebecca," a beautiful maid killed in a rage by a jealous logger.Loretto Chapel, Santa Fe, NM: "Miraculous" staircase built by an unknown carpenter who just showed up to build the spiral staircase without a central support and not a single nail or screw.Roswell, NM - Do I really need to give a description? It's like the Mecca for UFOlogists.Trinity site is where the first above ground explosion of an atomic weapon was done. It is located in the vast emptiness of New Mexico's Malpais (Sp. for bad country) region. The site is only open twice a year to visitors, ostensibly due to the radioactivity that can still be detected there. I wonder what sort of mutated 1950s B-movie cryptids can be found in its vicinity?The vast White Sands of New Mexico have a history of legends, including those similiar to the story made up about Beaver Sands in the Oklahoma panhandle--perhaps it was the inspiration. It's proximity to nuclear test sites and missile ranges means the place has seen plenty of UFO-related activity too.The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs: Said to be haunted by the ghosts of those who died during a fire. However, no one actually died in this referenced fire. But workers and guests alike have all reported multiple sightings and unexplained events. So who haunts this gracious resort? I could have cared less. They gave us a gorgeous suite overlooking the mountains and golf course. Ghosts, schmosts--it's room service time.Hotel Boulderado - Boulder, CO - Purportedly haunted by several spirits.The Stanley Hotel - Estes Park, CO - Steven King and its famous hauntings aside, the only thing that spooked me during my visit to the Stanley was the rude, inattentive staff. Good thing I have checked this from my list of places to visit because I doubt I will ever stay there again.Mackey Auditorium, U. of CO - Boulder, CO - Legend states a woman was murdered by a maintenance worker and that her ghost now roams the auditorium nightly.Pikes Peak, CO - Along the highway leading up the mountain, is a "Bigfoot Crossing" sign, erected by the Park after a rash of sightings occurred some years back. Old House, Black Hawk, CO--An abandoned house dating back to the late 1800s. I thought I was alone in this creepy old place when I stumbled upon a couple of paranormal investigators. LOL! I didn't know the place was supposed to be haunted. I just like taking pictures of abandoned places.The Trace - Lavonia, GA - This hotel, which was constructed in the antebellum style is purportedly haunted by the original home's owners."Lost Church" - Muskogee Co, OK - One room, ramshackle church purportedly built in 1927 but shows signs of massive renovation in the 60s or 70s. A few pews remain but not much else. I experienced nothing here but my associate claimed to feel a presence leaning against her leg, as if a smile child was resting there. Without having known this, she later learned a similiar experience was reported by another visitor to the church.Boggy Depot State Park, Oklahoma--Home to bigfoot reports and a haunted cemetery. When I visited, paranormal investigators from Texas had just captured EVP of a little girl's voice near the grave a young girl.Witch's Lake, Oklahoma city, OK--Witchy legends abound here, but none have a ring of truth. However, so very real tragedies took place over the years and might account for reported activity.Goodrich UMC - Norman, OK - A matriarchal parishioner still haunts this church. She has been witnessed by multiple individuals, mostly in the evenings. I never saw her myself but I know several who have and trust their judgement in this matter.The offices of the State Capital newspaper in Guthrie, OK are said to be haunted.St. Joseph's Catholic Orphanage/Cemetery - Oklahoma City, OKSCU library - Oklahoma City, OK -- shadowy figures and apparitions reported by reliable witnesses when the building was vacant.Alleyway between Kentucky and Indiana / 9th and 10th streets - Oklahoma City, OK - This is where I saw the "Grey Lady" as described in my book.Overholser Mansion - Oklahoma City, OK -- The vague form of a woman in a light colored dress spotted, phantom music heard, and a unexplained 'touch'.Heavener Runestone State Park, Heavener, OK--Did ancient Norse explorers visit Oklahoma? That's the mystery that remains etched in stone here.Spiro Mounds, Spiro, OK--ancient Native American burial and ceremonial mounds with a few ghostly sightings to boot.Territorial Governors House, Guthrie, OK--The wife of the first territorial governor died here and haunts it still, it seems.Fort Sill - Fort Sill, OK--Ghost stories abound here. Some I will share in SS2.Stone Lion Inn - Guthrie, OK -- Another establishment where I felt an unwelcoming presence, namely from the proprietor. Gilcrease House - Tulsa, OKThe Skirvin Hotel - Oklahoma City, OK -- I became terribly frightened by the bill. Ch-ching!The Cate Center, U. of OK - Norman, OKAvalon Theater/Tulsa Little Theater - Tulsa, OK -- Not an orb fan, but I did capture one oddly enough in the exact spot where "George" appears in the 3rd row.County Line BBQ - Oklahoma City, OK--Ghostly gangsters and a girl that died in a fire.Wichita Mountains--Legends of Spanish miners, Mexican Gold, and Outlaw Treasure meet up with mysterious beasts and tragic ghosts in these myth-filled mountains.Ouachita National Forest / Southeastern Oklahoma (replete with Bigfoot sightings) -- I got bit by bugs if that counts.Brown Springs Cemetery - Brown Springs, OK - This is the cemetery where I received the strange thermal readings, as I describe in the section on Brown Springs.An old Masonic Temple in El Reno, part of a rambling warren of rooms in the historic downtown. Mysterious cold spots and disembodied voices have been reported.The old art deco Mercy hospital in Oklahoma City was said to be haunted by a nurse and several patients.Old church on N. Classen in OKC, which has been several clubs (Infinity, Purgatory) over the past decade. Some claim to have heard phantom sounds.Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, CA--many a suicide from this bridge and apparently their spirits stick around to prove it.Alcatraz, San Francisco, CA--Who DOESN'T haunt this famous prison. I never saw anything, but you can just feel something about this place. Very sad and a little angry.Marin County, CA--home to towering Redwood forests and Bigfoot sightings.Boyington Oak in Mobile, AL--A wrongfully convicted man announced at his execution that, in proof of his innocence, an oak would arise from his grave....Oakleigh Mansion--Mobile, AL--It's been said that the beautiful front parlor room is haunted by a female ghost. There have also been reports of poltergeist-like activity around the mansion. Some of the activity includes eerie disembodied voices, phantom furniture that reportedly moves on its own and creepy shadow figures.Mobile's Braggs-Mitchell House, haunted by the ghost of a young woman.USS Alabama, in Mobile Bay, is said to be haunted. The ghosts of men killed in a gun turret still walk the old decks.Ft. Gaines on Dauphin Island near Mobile, AL. Famed for the man who said "Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead!" and also for phantom soldiers who still stand guard.Church Street Cemetery in Mobile, AL -- home to both the Boyington Oak and the famous internet meme of a couple years back, the Mobile Leprechaun. While the story was laughed at in the media, one has to wonder just what they saw.El Convento Hotel - San Juan, PR - This one-time Carmelite convent is now a hotel in the heart of Old San Juan. Said to be haunted by a grieving Spanish woman named Do~na Ana. Both she and spectral nuns have been seen.Arecibo Radio Telescope--Not far from Puerto Rico's north-central coastal town of Arecibo lies the eponymous radio telescope, famed as much for its connections to extraterrestrial contact as for its contributions to science.El Morro and Fuerte San Geronimo - San Juan, PR - Revenants of spectral battles cling to these ancient Spanish fortresses. I have yet to witness the supernatural at El Morro but I certainly felt the weight of time. I enjoyed exploring San Geronimo more because I was the only one there. This smaller, far less well known fort guards the mouth of the lagoon in Condado. It isn't a tourist attraction like the others and sits neglected next to the Hilton Caribe hotel. Ironic: So much money and so little spent to restore the island's history.Caribbean National Forest ("EL YUNQUE") - the birth place of the legend of the Chupacabra and tales of UFO's. I can't say I have witnessed either and it's only a 30 minute drive from my home. In fact, I can look outside my window and see the towering peak of El Yunque mtn but sadly never any lights. Teatro Tapia, San Juan, PR-- Across from Plaza Colon, is haunted by the spirits of past performers as well as patrons.Tibes Ceremonial Park near Ponce, PR--Ancient ceremonial plazas and villages where some claim to hear ghostly drumming and chanting late a night.Chase Vault, Christ Church Parish Church Cemetery, Oistins, Barbados - famed for its mysterious "moving" coffins, this vault has captured imaginations for 200 years. Some claim the unusual happenings never transpired; they were a Masonic hoax.St. Kitt's Brimstone Hill Fortress's No. 4 Barracks are also known as the "Jumbie Barracks," after the Creole word for ghost, as they are said to be haunted by the spirits of colonial soldiers.Trinidad's Richmond Great House is a restored sugar plantation house dating back to 1766. It is rumored that one of the rooms is haunted by the ghost of the original owner's wife.Cathedral Santa Maria - Valencia, Espana - home to one of the reported "Holy Grail" chalices.Gaudi's famous Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona is filled with enigmatic, DaVinci Code-esque symbols.Spain's Canary Islands are home to the enigmatic Pir'amides de G"u'imar, a collection of plazas and step pyramids built by persons unknown. The mystery has intrigued the likes of Thor Heyerdahl.Sao Miguel in the Azores is home to many UFO sightings.Atlas Mountains, Morocco--Locals tell legends of little people that dwell in the mountains.Colloseum, Rome, Italy--Witnesses have reported residual phenomena, including the sounds of battling gladiators, roaring crows and some claim to have glimpsed apparitions. Pantheon, Rome, Italy--The ghost of Italy's King Umberto I, who is buried in the pagan-temple-cum-church has been reported on several occasions.Pont Marie, Paris, France--The cheating wife of a WWII French soldier threw herself from this bridge after he left her. She relieves the experience to this day.Eiffel Tower, Paris, France--Another love story turned tragic when a spurned lover threw his beloved from the top. Her phantom shouts of "NO!" and then a blood-chilling scream have been heard now and then.Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris, France--Some say the gargoyles come alive!Mont St. Michele, Normandy, France--Witnesses speak of having glimpsed phantom monks and time slips that reveal the sights and sounds of battles from WWII and the Middle Ages.Amsterdam's Dam Square, home to witch burnings of the Spanish Inquisition.Amsterdam's Montelbaan Tower is home to a family of ghosts who once a year re-enact their terribly unsuccessful attempt to flee to the the tower for protection from an invading force.Haunted Dover Castle sits high atop the famed white cliffs of Dover. Nearby are an ancient Saxon church and a Roman lighthouse--both haunted as well.The London Stone, on Cannon Street, is said to hold the city's fate; should it be removed, the city would fall.Dating to the 1690s, London's George Inn is a haunted hotspot that has been featured in works by Charles Dickens and others. Ghosts of ancient cavaliers and a more recent owner are said to haunt the pile, the latter wreaking havoc with electrical systems.The Tower of London at night is a powerfully creepy place. I was fortunate enough to witness the Key Ceremony, a lantern lit procession of Beefeaters who dramatically lock up the Tower at night. Countless apparitions and mysterious phenomena have occurred here over the centuries. In the English county of Kent, Leeds castle has stood for centuries. Once home to royalty, it is now a museum. But some say a spectral black hound still haunts its environs, a harbinger of doom.
