One FOI request asks, "Please, under the freedom of information act can you tell me how many alien abductions have been reported in the West Midlands over past three years, breaking it down for each area? Can you also give details on each case and how the report was resolved?"
The department says it has received twenty-three alien-related reports during the past four years. How these numbers compare to police departments in other parts of the world is unknown. But it seems like a lot, considering that these aren't simple calls about strange lights in the sky.
Two calls were from people who were either being attacked by aliens, or were reporting an alien home invasion.
Three of the calls were from people seeking police assistance because extraterrestrials were allegedly in the process of abducting them, or coming to abduct them.
Four calls were from people who reported that they were either talking to aliens or hearing aliens talking to them.
The remaining fourteen calls were from people reporting that they had seen extraterrestrials in West Midlands.

The police department points out, "Every effort is made to ensure that the figures presented are accurate and complete. However, it is important to note that these data have been extracted from a number of data sources used by forces for police purposes. The detail collected to respond specifically to your request is subject to the inaccuracies inherent in any large scale recording system. As a consequence, care should be taken to ensure data collection processes and their inevitable limitations are taken into account when interpreting those data."
The twenty-three reports provided by the West Midlands police resulted from its own system search using the terms "alien" and "alien abduction." A claim by a senior executive of a private company that he had captured on video camera an unidentified object in the eastern sky early Monday had left scientists and the media in a tizzy, triggering a frenzy among people to spot the object.
Farhan Akhtar claimed to have captured the bright multi-coloured object from his 10th floor flat at Kalikapur in east Kolkata around 3.20 a.m. Monday. He said the phenomenon lasted for around three hours and disappeared when daylight appeared.
"From what I can understand, it could just be digital trickery as no natural phenomenon can last that long and change its colour and shape so rapidly," Duari said Tuesday.
The video footage of the object, as telecast on a Bengali television channel, showed the fireball changing its shape from a round object to a triangle and then turning into a straight line.
The object, spotted at a 30-degree angle from the horizon, also emitted a bright light that formed almost a halo and radiated a range of colours.
"If the person who shot the object with his handycam is to be believed, the fireball was seen moving from the east to the west. I first thought it could be a fragment of the Holmes Comet that had broken up on Oct 24, but if it is indeed a remnant of Holmes, it should have been seen in the western sky and also at 60 degrees above the horizon. But this is not the case here," Duari said.
"The object could be Venus because it is spotted in the eastern sky. But one cannot capture Venus on his handycam so close and so bright. So, if it is not Venus or a Holmes Comet, then it must be an optical illusion or just a figment of one's imagination," he said.
Duari said he would like to tally the claims made by a US citizen recently regarding sighting of an unidentified flying object with the claims made by the city-based executive.
Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics astro-particle physicist Kamalesh Kar said: "A cosmic body cannot change its appearance so rapidly. An expert needs to observe it for a longer period to comment on it. It is very difficult to draw any conclusion based on television pictures."

it carried on not fast but faster than a Chinese lantern it did not have the flickering jerking movements of a lantern,nor was it a plane,we were not too fazed by this object we get lots of ufo in our valley,only last week my grandson and friend Brandon was coming round to mine when they saw close up another ufo hovering over our house.i went outside and got a short vid of this bright star like object,I also got both boys to sketch the ufo seeing has they saw it close up.both are identical I made them sketch separate, but at the same time.

The light was approximately 5 or more times the size of the surrounding stars. I am a retired US Navy aircraft mechanic, so I am very used to visually identifying aircraft of all types.
This light was the wrong color for a landing and or spot/flood light. The object made no noise, and traveled in the sky for more than a minute before fading out much like a meteor would. However, it was traveling very slow across the sky like a high altitude aircraft would.
The thing that really surprised me is, this light made a right turn, however the light source didn't fade as landing lights would during a turn from my vantage point.
My concern was, it was an aircraft on fire. When the object made the turn to the west, it traveled for several seconds, and then slowly faded out. Were there any other reports of this object?
Has anyone figured out what it was? If it were landing lights, I would have seen an aspect change in the lights intensity as the aircraft turned. If it were a meteor it would not be able to make a right turn.
Not having any detectable sound is irrelevant as acoustics from aircraft can be very misleading anyway. The only thing I can surmise is it must have been an aircraft with a major fire, that got the fire out using the onboard fire suppression systems.
Let me know if you know anything. If it was an aircraft on fire, I hope the pilot(s) made it back safely.
