Losing first-hand witnesses of the Roswell Incident to the ravages of time is at an alarming rate, yet it always saddens me to hear of another loss. The news about the passing of Jesse Marcel Jr. on August 24th has moved me deeply, due to having known him and shared many enjoyable, informative moments with him over the years.
Debby and I want to extend our deepest sympathy to Linda, the children and grandchildren. We, as you, will all miss him.
I first met Jesse in 1997 while I was affiliated with the UFO Museum here in Roswell. Since then we had done lectures at several conferences and the highlight was always to spend time with him there, as well as visiting over dinner at night, along with his wife Linda. I remember at an Aztec, NM conference several years ago I was asked to be Master of Ceremonies and had the distinct honor of introducing Jesse. He was always a soft-spoken individual, extremely honest and above all humble in my opinion. He didn't care much for it when as part of my introduction for him-I would mention that he was an American hero. Nevertheless I always thought of him and his Dad Major Jesse Marcel as just that, and continue to feel that way.
Not to many years ago I had the opportunity to go in the house where Jesse lived here in Roswell as an 11 year old boy in 1947; it was there his Dad, Major Marcel came back from the debris field and woke him up to show him some of the debris from the crash site. I took pictures of the inside of the house and mailed them to Jesse. He responded back that because the house had been remodeled over those 60 years he didn't recognize anything there.
Today I give Roswell UFO Tours and that house where Jesse lived as a boy is one of the major stops. I talk at length about his Dad's involvement in the 1947 Roswell Incident and how Jesse reacted to that, so I will not let their involvement fade into the past. I will continue to remind people of their importance to the Roswell Incident, as well as serving their country with the highest honor-which we should all remember and be thankful for.
I always looked forward to writing to Jesse, sometimes sharing my editorials with him, or seeing him at a conference and will definitely miss that, but the recollections I have of him will stay with me forever.
Thanks for the memories Jesse, I'll miss you.

Currently, two Pioneer probes left the solar system, will soon be joined by two probes Voyager. As long as mankind has no plans to send spacecraft to other solar systems, but 4 of the probe is enough to wonder why other civilizations did not send their probes to us?
Two scientists from Pennsylvania University conducted a mathematical analysis and believe that you should not be so categorical and lament the lack of interest in our solar system - just as long as we were not able to verify the absence of extraterrestrial artifacts.
The vastness of space, combined with our limited search clearly indicates that any remotely from Earth unmanned research probe of extraterrestrial origin are likely to go unnoticed.
So far we have not found in the solar system is no evidence of the existence of civilizations. Enrico Fermi paradox raises the question: if intelligent life is common, why we do not see any technological civilization than ours? The answers to this question usually lies in the cultural plane, for example, life is found only rarely, and any intelligent life inevitably destroys itself, or just hiding from other predators-civilizations.
However, even without direct contact to send unmanned probes to study our civilization seems logical act. Such probes can be small and hidden in various corners of our solar system. For example, in sizes ranging from 1 to 10 m and weighing just over one ton in the asteroid belt, they will be practically invisible. Even today's program to track asteroids are mainly focused on the objects of larger size, and passing through the near-Earth space.
Scientists have examined the solar system as a fixed amount and tried to find out what percentage of this amount must be carefully searched to find alien probes (provided that they are not masked, for example, by an asteroid).
Taking into account the variety of potential biases, such as "The universe is teeming with life" or "life - a very rare phenomenon," researchers have developed equations that can be applied to a specific part of the volume of the solar system and say exactly whether it has been studied enough to guarantee that there is no alien probes.
Current results of applying this equation to our solar system suggests that it has been insufficiently studied in order to categorically say "in our alien artifact there." To date, the Earth's surface is one of the few places in the solar system, which is almost entirely photographed with a resolution of less than 1 meter. Even on Earth there are many sites (caves, jungles, places on the ocean floor), which have not been studied. So even on this planet there is a possibility of finding alien artifact.
Strange as it seems, but a smaller probability of finding extraterrestrial "surprises" show the moon and Mars. Moon probe studies Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (resolution camera about 60 cm), and the Red Planet - a huge number of missions with high-resolution cameras that are constantly surveying the surface.
However, the vast majority of the volume of the solar system is unexplored, including the Kuiper Belt, where you can hide very large objects.

The search for alien life doesnt end within the boundaries of our solar system. Scientists are now searching for moons orbiting alien planets that might play host to extraterrestrial life.
A new project called the Hunt for Exomoons with Kepler (HEK) is the first systematic search for exomoons, or moons that circle planets outside our solar system.HEK astronomers, led by David Kipping at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, simulate billions of possible star-planet-moon arrangements using NASAs Pleiades Supercomputer.
They then compare the results with actual data taken with NASAs Kepler telescope, which monitors the brightness of stars in an effort to find exoplanets that could harbor life. If one of the simulated combinations matches the Kepler data, that area warrants further exploration....

WITNESS TESTIMONY
Spotted this odd shaped blob passing by about 1500 feet altitude, traveling with the wind West to East and about 1/4 mile away. At first it looked like a large vulture that was soaring, but then as it got closer we could make out the shape better. No noise, but my wife and I both noticed some sort of aura or energy field that seemed to distort the air right around this thing.
I then ran inside to get my camera while my wife kept watching. Got this one decent picture, but when I tried to zoom in on it my camera started acting erratically and then I lost track of the object. Called my brother that lives on the other end of town to see if he could see it, and he immediately did spot it and tried to photograph it but had the same problem with focusing.

As circles and rings in ice-covered lakes and river-bays have become a relatively numerous documented phenomenon - especially in Scandinavian and other northern European and American countries, the latest case of an ice-circle in Russia (exact location and date of discovery unfortunately unknown) just adds another case of this most likely naturally caused circle-phenomenon.Some believe that the natural explanation for this phenomenon are underwater vortices cause by through-running streams that follow natural outlines of bays and coves just as visible also in the above shown images, as well as differences in the water's temperature that might impact also the forming of the above ice-structure in such a way.
However, some rare examples of geometrically more complex patterns put the above described theory to the test - at least if presented as a simple single vortex-system or as the sole explanation for all patters in ice.

Those who attribute UFOs to alien spacecraft have a ready answer to the paradox. However, there is little mainstream support for this view.
They Exist But Have Not Communicated With Us
Another possibility is that advanced civilizations either deliberately or accidentally hide evidence of their existence from humanity. They might do so out of ethical concerns for primitive beings or a desire to encourage cultural diversity. This has the Uniformity of Motive flaw common to other Fermi solutions: assuming that all alien civilizations throughout time will behave in the same way.
Civilizations might be deliberately hiding themselves in order to avoid destruction from more advanced civilizations. It has also been proposed that a fundamental information theoretical axiom might be behind the lack of recognized signals. Information theory states that a message which is compressed maximally, is indistiguishable from white noise. The counterargument to this would be that even though as bandwidth becomes a bottleneck to communication, there ought still be some niche technologies which would not or could not strive to maximal data compression. Science fiction authors have proposed another possible explanation -- that someone, or something, is destroying intelligent life in the universe as fast as it is created. This theme can be found in novels such as Frederik Pohl's Heechee novels, Fred Saberhagen's Berserker novels and Greg Bear's The Forge of God. Technological civilizations may usually or invariably destroy themselves via nuclear war, biological warfare, grey goo or destroying their planet's ecosphere) before or shortly after developing radio or spaceflight technology (a very real possibility).
Another possible explanation is that advanced civilizations would construct multiple concentric Dyson Spheres around their stars, each one radiating less energy than the next smallest one, with the outermost sphere radiating energy at close to the background radiation. These would be essentially unobservable from any distance.
Yet another is that all intelligent life inevitably evolves towards a technological singularity and quickly becomes unrecognizable to humanity in our present state.
They Do Not Exist
Others argue that the conditions for life, or at least complex life, are rare. For instance, some hypotheses say that complex life required the stimulation of tides from Earth's moon to evolve, and the Moon is the result of freak
occurrence, a body of a certain mass striking Earth at just the right angle to
carve off the material and put it in a stable orbit.
Another possibilty is that ice ages, comet or meteor impacts, supernovae, gamma ray bursters or other catastrophic planetary or galactic events are so common that life rarely has the time to evolve. Alternately, these events may not be frequent enough on other planets and evolution is slowed because there aren't enough mass extinctions to encourage diversity.
Even if the conditions for life are common, the evolution of human-like intelligence, the invention of radio technology or interest in the exploration of outer space may be vanishingly rare.
Conclusion
A common concept used in the scientific method to test the validity of certain ideas is Occam's Razor. To paraphrase, Occam's Razor states that the explanation for a given phenomenon that has the fewest assumptions should be preferred over more complicated ones.
All this draws us to a few possible conclusions, say adherents of the Fermi Principle: that as a technologically advanced species, we are alone in our part
of the Cosmos. The simplest explanation, say adherents to the premise behind the Fermi Paradox, is the last one.

Sharon Hall writes:DID anyone else see a strange sighting over Scunthorpe on Sunday night?
I was returning from the Jolly Sailor in Gunness to my house, which is just a short walk from the Jolly.
It was a completely starless night when I saw over the houses, in the direction of the football stadium, a large single bright star-like shape.
It gave off rays like a star, but was much too big and bright to be a star and was completely stationary.
I watched the "star" for several minutes before heading into my house.
I have never seen anything so big and bright, much bigger and brighter than a car headlights, but giving off the same kind of refracted rays. It was quite beautiful to see, but I have no idea what it was.
