In 2000, several police departments across Indiana, Missouri, and Illinois had the same strange experience of tracking a large, silent, triangular shape across the skies. In the late 1990's Phoenix residents reported seeing large, silent, black triangles in the desert sky as well. The suggested explanations tend to fall on the side of an as-yet undisclosed stealth type craft, perhaps a "stealth blimp." Top secret craft in development is a lot easier to swallow than a spaceship from another time, place, or dimension (these were also suggested as explanations).The problem is that sightings of such triangular craft are not new. In fact they appear to be much older than first realized and this is what makes them very interesting. In 1955, an CIA file details the launch of a triangle craft from a field with lights at each tip. The "APRO Bulletin" (Aug, 1955, pg. 9) lists a March 30 sighting of a silver, triangle shaped object hovering over Wright-Patterson AFB and an Aug 11 sighting near Cairo, Illinois described as "dark, middle part bluish-green, and the back very bright" (author: perhaps due to lights or power source?). In Sept. 1956 (ibid) there was a sighting near Helena, Montana of a triangle craft. NICAP UFO Investigator reported in Sept-Oct. of 1964 that Robert Briele of Baltimore observed a triangle with lights at each tip and "a small red light in the center" and noted no sound was heard. Other witnesses to these craft have reported a red light as well.The presence of white lights and a blinking red light would seem to support a craft using FAA regulations as to lights. Thatcher, who died on 8 April aged 87, was 19 months into her first term as Prime Minister in 1980 when US airmen at the nuclear-armed twin airbase RAF BENTWATERS-WOODBRIDGE reported 'unexplained lights' (UFOs) hovering above RENDLESHAM FOREST in Suffolk.
The 'Rendlesham Forest' incident happened at the height of the Cold War when tensions in Poland - then behind the Iron Curtain -were reaching crisis point. In the years that followed, the Ministry of Defence drew up secret plans to base US cruise missiles at RAF Greenham Common and US airbases in eastern England and was keen to avoid drawing attention to a persistent story about a UFO landing near one of them.
MoD always claimed the UFO incident was 'of no defence significance' but until I obtained a copy of their closed file on the case in 2001 - using a precursor to the FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT - the results of their inquiries into the strange sightings remained shrouded in secrecy.
The file revealed their conclusion that '"it was highly unlikely that any violation of UK airspace would be heralded by such a display of lights...[we] think it equally likely that any [Soviet] reconnaissance or spying activity would be announced in this way."'
But before these plain facts entered the public domain UFOlogist and internet gossip columnist GEORGINA BRUNI revealed that she had quizzed Thatcher face-to-face about her knowledge of UFOs and Rendlesham.
The bizarre conversation took place in London at a charity cocktail party during 1997, shortly after the former Prime Minister had returned from an engagement in Washington DC. At the time Bruni was working on a book that she hoped would expose 'the truth' about Britain's Roswell.
Seizing the opportunity, Bruni asked her opinion on UFOs and claims that world leaders knew about the existence of alien technology. She received this response:
"'YOU CAN'T TELL THE PEOPLE'"
As Special Branch guards and husband Dennis listened, Bruni asked if she was referring to UFOs. According to her account published in 2001, the following exchange then took place:
'Determined to pursue the questioning I stood facing her and, almost in a whisper, I said, "UFOs and alien technology, Lady Thatcher."
"You must get your facts right," she answered.
"What facts?" I wanted to know. In a worried tone of voice, but with her usual composure, she repeated,
"YOU MUST HAVE THE FACTS AND YOU CAN'T TELL THE PEOPLe."
That was the end of the conversation. Bruni - who died in 2008 - shook Thatcher's hand, thanked her and the Prime Minister was escorted out of the room, followed by her bodyguards.
Bruni was so impressed by this 'admission' that she used the phrase "You Can't Tell the People", despite its ambiguous status, as the title of her 2000 book that publishers Macmillan promoted as '"the definitive account of the Rendlesham Forest incident"'.
As a believer in UFOs and conspiracy theories, Bruni's gut instinct was Thatcher, like Winston Churchill and other world leaders, had been briefed on the defence threat posed by UFOs and aliens. She mused: 'If Britain was under threat...Thatcher would want to know all the intricate details...What were the facts she was referring to and, even more importantly, why should she insist that the people should not be told about UFOs?'
In the second edition of the book Bruni revealed she was, as a result of her research into the mystery:
'...convinced that they [UFOnauts] are time travellers from our future or another dimension...that would account for why there is a reluctance from our governments to reveal the truth about these encounters. How would you tell the people that there is an intelligence far more advanced than we are, who are capable of creating such incredible technology?' (p406, paperback edition)
Several attempts were made to obtain an explanation of the phrase 'you can't tell the people' from Baroness Thatcher's office, without success. But a persistent UFOlogist, the late Eric Morris, extracted one plausible explanation from the former PM's personal assistant Mary Wakeley.
In a letter dated 12 November 2001, that Morris later donated to my archive, Wakeley insisted that the comment '"you must first get your facts right"' was one '"that Lady Thatcher regularly uses in almost all circumstances and therefore it would be no surprise that she might have said the same on this occasion".'

She adds:
'However, I do not think one should read too much into it - as the author [Bruni] obviously has done.'
Wakeley reveals she was familiar with the UFO story as she notes that 'you will not be surprised that this matter has been raised before.'
Although this anecdote appears to have impressed Bruni's publishers, like many UFO-related yarns, it does not stand up to critical scrutiny.
It could, for instance, be argued the 'facts' referred to by Thatcher were those contained in the MoD's policy assessment - used to justify the closure of their UFO desk in 2009 - that UFOs as alien craft did not exist but those who believed in them would never accept that disappointing conclusion.
"So this was more a case of 'don't let the facts get in the way of a good story' rather than a clue to the puzzle of Britain's Roswell incident."
A well written article, but I disagree with Dr. Clarke on a couple of things:

As Stanton Friedman says, "Not all UFOs are flying saucers, but all flying saucers are UFOs."
And not all flying saucers ( or flying triangles ) are interstellar craft. Some might be time machines.
And that might be worth kept secret by certain world leaders.
But we'll never know.

Went outside to cool down from the heat inside,sat down and looked up at the stars as it was a clear night with some cloud cover but not enough prevent one from seeing the stars. AS I looked for few minutes I began to realize that one of the stars was making slow moving circle around very high up in the air. what was different about this star is that is that it did not twinkle at all it was a constant light round light, I thought Isaw some red on it for a second. It moved very slowly in a slow curve.Then it was directly southwest of me and the cloudcover was pushed away from it,really cant explain this,tried to take a picture just was too high in the air.Anyhow this object starts moving strangly back and forth zig and ziging up and down like a yoyo,but in the center of this cloud cover. so I start screaming for my husband to come outside.He comes outside looks up and says what ?.He looks at whats going on and says must be a hellocopter,Isaid that high that gotta be at least 30,000 thousand ft or more and airplanes cannot do that as we are both watch this object jump up and down and go back and forth.he just shook his head and said well its has a red light so cant be a ufo because they donnot. He goes inside so I call my dad who is an aerospace engineer and tell him what Im seeing.As im talking to him I donnot realize this object has actually desended and has a very tiny light blue colored beam on it and its hitting somewhere near by.Just how far I couldn't tell because Iwas in such a state of shock talking to my dad.I'm still having ahard time believing what I saw.When I on my drive way for a better look the object was moving backwards in seconds way up in the air. One of the problems with researching, reading and learning about unsolved mysteries, strange secret societies and things like a "new world order" is the sheer volume of things to read and learn. Of course the sheer volume of information that is probably "disinformation" adds to the confusion and wastes a lot of time.
Nonetheless, we continue to move forward shifting through the information we find and when something catches my eye, I like to post it here. Tonight, I came across a Canadian news story from May 19, 1967 that some experts claim may be one of the best human/alien/UFO encounters to date. I am talking about the Stephen Michalak unidentified flying object encounter.
Stephen Michalak was a weekend prospector working the area around a place called Falcon Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park, in southeastern Manitoba, Canada.
According to Michalak, around noon on May 19, 1967, he saw two unknown objects, he described as "flying saucers" One landed near him in the woods, near where he was prospecting. He had heard a noise, similar to a flock of Canada Geese, when he looked up, two cigar-shaped objects, a brilliant red color were coming down towards him. One of the unidentified flying objects stopped in the air, while the other landed on a big rock about 160 feet from where he stood. While he watched, the UFO still in the air, changed it's color from red to grey, and flew away, to the west, he watched until it disappeared in the clouds. Turning his attention back to the craft that had landed, he said that it had turned to grey as well, but then to an incandescent stainless steel.
He moved towards the unidentified object and upon reaching it, he touched it with a gloved hand. When he did, it suddenly took off, leaving him with a patterned burn on his abdomen. The burn was obstensibly from the exhaust of the flying craft, and radiation. Following his encounter Michalak became very sick, with severe burns on his chest, and nausea, he did the best he could to mark the site of the encounter and left to seek medical treatment.
Stephen Michalak's injuries are considered among some of the best documented "physical "evidence regarding UFO's. Remember, in many cases, there is not much physical evidence regarding unidentifed flying objects, as for one thing, they are usually flying....That Michalak actually 'touched' the object and had burns on his body, adds credence to the story. His story is also different from other close encounters of the third kind stories, like alien abduction stories, in that, he did not see anyone in the unidentified object, even when the door opened and apparently he was able to get a glimpse inside the craft. Below is a picture of Michalak showing the burn pattern on his abdomen.
Michalak's encounter was investigated by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Royal Canadian Air Force, and other governmental and civilian UFO groups. Some of these investigations into the mystery differed on their findings, one (The U.S. Condon Committee) suggesting that there wasn't much radiation in the area and another, led by the Canadian Government found significant radioactive signatures near the landing site.
"(The Condon Committee was the informal name of the University of Colorado UFO Project, a study of unidentified flying objects, undertaken at the University of Colorado from 1966 to 1968 under the direction of physicist Edward Condon. The committee was rife with problems, including the idea that they may have been influenced by the U.S. Air Force. Up until that time, the Air Force had been responsible for investigating UFO's aka (Project Blue Book) which ran from 1952 - 1969 with the two goals, 1) determining if UFOs were a threat to national security, and 2) to scientifically analyze UFO-related data. Project Blue Book is often criticized as not very valid, that the results were dubious, and that possibly it may have actually been covering up UFO evidence. Some conspiracy theroists, perhaps even yours truly, believe that the U.S. Air Force may still be collecting UFO information, even if they deny it publicly.)"
Regardless of the findings of the investigations, the story took on a life of it's own and even made it to the television show, Unsolved Mysteries:

Sagan would later admit to the world that regular UFO sightings had prompted him to create contingency plans for possible alien invasion, and how America's astronauts might have to deal with hostile aliens. Also, in "Contact" -- a 1979 movie about making alien contact, and based on Sagan's novel of the same name - it features a commentary by "Contact" movie producers Robert Zemeckis and Steve Starkey, revealing how Carl Sagan "insisted that NASA give out cyanide pills to its astronauts."
Sagan created the titles "Contact" and "Cosmos" to say we're not alone in this vast universe
At the same time Sagan wrote the hit film "Contact;" he also created the hit 13-part PBS TV series "Cosmos: A Personal Voyage." Both the movie and TV show point to how humans may have to take precautions when encountering alien life. In the movie "Contact," for example, the astronaut whose sent to meet the visiting aliens is given a cyanide pill just in case something goes wrong. The view is alien life is far more superior than that of Earthlings, and choosing death over dealing with aliens may be the best option possible.

UFO SIGHTING IN THOUSAND OAKS, CALIFORNIA ON SEPTEMBER 19TH 2013 - 2 ROWS OF BRIGHT LIGHT HOVERING AND GO TO SOUTH AND DESCENDING BEHIND HILL
I live on a lake. Couldn't sleep. Went out on balcony and saw flash of white light come from behind and over the house and across the lake and then hover and then went over the hill beyond the lake and descended behind the hill. When it hovered, I noticed two bands of white lights moving sequentially and a band of amber (copper) and green alternating light inbetween the two white bands that was pulsating. The colored lights were pulsating at a slower speed than the two bands of white light. On other occasions, my husband and I noticed an orange glow from behind the hill (there are no homes there). It was clearly not an airplane or helicopter.

Radar Analysis - Aircraft - UFO Sighting Near Picayune, MS - April 13, 2013

BACKGROUND: On April 13, 2013 a pilot had just taken off from Slidell, LA Airport with his Cessna 172. He was flying at 2,500 feet and as he approached the Picayune, MS VOR he saw a disk shaped craft to his right for a few seconds. The object drifted off to the south after a few seconds. He was flying north and the sighting occurred at about 3:30 PM CDT.
ANALYSIS: I read the article written by Richard Hoffman in the MUFON Journal and case description in MUFON's Case Management System (CMS). Given my interest in radar and pilot UFO sightings I immediately requested radar data from Hill AFB near Ogden, UT. The radar data is archived by the Air Force and stored for long periods. The Air Force shares several long range radar units with the FAA for the JSS (Joint Surveillance System). I received the data in the first week of August and began work immediately.
RESULTS: Several radar units were included in the data provided by the Air Force. See map in Figure 1 below for the locations of the radar sites.

Radar did not show any objects in the area and at or near the time reported by the witness. The radar path of the aircraft suggests that the aircraft passed the Picayune, MS VOR at 3:24 PM versus 3:30 PMasreported by the witness. However, the pilot stated that he saw the object "around 3:30 PM." From this statement one could infer that the time was approximate.
The returns displayed on the maps below were from the Citronelle, AL and Slidell, LS radar sites. (See the map in Figure 2.) All of the "primary" (possible UFO) returns were detected by the Citronelle, AL radar site which is about 95 miles East-Northeast of the Picayune, MS VOR as shown by Figure 2 below.

Figures 3 and 4 below show the first part of the flight of the Cessna 172 and unusual radar returns (red triangles). The blue arrows indicate the direction of movement of the Cessna. (The blue dots are the actual transponder returns.) The possible UFO returns were detected between 3:17 and 3:24 PM CDT. The UFO returns were several miles to the North-Northeast of the aircraft (one to two o'clock position). The aircraft first was detected by radar at around 3:17 PM as it took off from Slidell Airport. The UFO was moving generally East-Northeast with some minor changes in direction. The first UFO return on the map below was just south of the Picayune, MS airport. The time was 3:17 PM CDT. The closest that the UFO return would have been to the aircraft is at the top of the map (Figure 4) which is about 5 miles. (The aircraft was moving much faster than the UFO.) The UFO was positioned almost due east of the aircraft at the top of the map.

So why could these returns be a UFO? Figure 5 is a "zoom in" showing the position of the UFO at each radar detection. One reason is the abrupt change in direction. (The UFO first streaked to the Southeast at 190 MPH and then changed direction to the North-Northeast at 60 MPH. The object then slowed to 35 to 40 MPH and moved East to Northeast.) The UFO was not detected at each rotation of the radar and sometimes would only be detected at minute intervals. (The radar makes one sweep every 12 seconds or 5 sweeps /minute.) What could be the reason for the "intermittent" detections? Of course perhaps the object would vanish or change position so as to not have sufficient cross sectional area for detection. Another possibility is that the object could have been changing altitude and may have been too low for the Citronelle, AL radar to detect. (Given the curvature of the Earth the Citronelle, AL radar would have not detected objects below 570 feet.) Another possibility is that object could have hovered. In this case the radar may not detect it because of the moving target protocol which means that the radar will only detect objects at a certain minimum speed (20 to 30 MPH). This is done so that radars don't detect stationary objects (like bridges, towers, etc.) This type of radar signature is what one expects to see from a strange object. If the object was an aircraft or helicopter, it would have been detected every revolution of the radar. This was not the case. (This is assuming that the aircraft or helicopter did not have their transponder on.) Also the pilot did not see any known aircraft in this position. Of course the returns could have been "radar angels," anomalous propagation or weather phenomena. This is not likely because the object moved progressively at each sweep or in multiple sweeps of the radar in an ascending time progression (12 second intervals or in multiples of 12 seconds). Unfortunately the UFO was not detected by other radars. The radar in Slidell, LS did not detect the UFO. This radar was closer to the aircraft and UFO than the Citronelle, AL radar.

So why was the object seen by the pilot not detected by radar? The pilot only saw the object for a few seconds. Perhaps it was not detectable because it could have rapidly increased altitude or streaked away? (This behavior is frequently seen with UFO craft.) Also the UFO could have been so close to the aircraft that the resolution of the radar could not distinguish the two objects and would paint them as one return. (The radar antenna was over 90 miles away which would make it more difficult to distinguish objects close together.) Perhaps the object detected by the radar could have been related to the object seen by pilot?
In conclusion the radar does not show the object in the position and time seen by the pilot. However, a few minutes before the pilot saw the object another strange object was detected by radar several miles to the North-Northeast of the aircraft. This object was first detected by radar when the Cessna first became visible to the radar (via transponder beacon return) at around 3:17 PM CDT.
NASA's Hubble Space Telescope will have two opportunities in the next few years to hunt for Earth-sized planets around the red dwarf Proxima Centauri. But astronomers believe they may be able to detect smaller terrestrial planets, if they exist, by looking for microlensing effects during the two rare stellar alignments.Microlensing occurs when a foreground star passes close to our line of sight to a more distant background star. These images of the background star may be distorted, brightened and multiplied depending on the alignment between the foreground lens and the background source.These microlensing events, ranging from a few hours to a few days in duration, will enable astronomers to measure precisely the mass of this isolated red dwarf. Getting a precise determination of mass is critical to understanding a star's temperature, diameter, intrinsic brightness, and longevity.Astronomers will measure the mass by examining images of each of the background stars to see how far the stars are offset from their real positions in the sky. The offsets are the result of Proxima Centauri's gravitational field warping space. The degree of offset can be used to measure Proxima Centauri's mass. The greater the offset, the greater the mass of Proxima Centauri. If the red dwarf has any planets, their gravitational fields will produce a second small position shift.Because Proxima Centauri is so close to Earth, the area of sky warped by its gravitation field is larger than for more distant stars. This makes it easier to look for shifts in apparent stellar position caused by this effect. However, the position shifts will be too small to be perceived by any but the most sensitive telescopes in space and on the ground. The European Space Agency's Gaia space telescope and the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope on Mt. Cerro Paranal in Chile may be able to make measurements comparable to Hubble's.To identify possible alignment events, Sahu's team searched a catalog of 5,000 stars with a high rate of angular motion across the sky and singled out Proxima Centauri. DEEN: THE BIG CONN: MONSTER OR MYTH?

Loch Ness has her Nessie, Lake Champlain has her Champ, Lake Mephremegog has her Memphre and the Connecticut River, well the sting of it is that she has her monster, it just has not been named yet. The Connecticut River does have a monster or monsters, that is, if you can believe press stories from numerous historical sources, including The New York Times.
One of the earliest reports comes from the History of Lordship in 1878 when an assistant engineer on the steamer State of New York said that he witnessed the head of a monster raised several feet above the waves. The head disappeared and a portion of the body formed an arc "under which it would have been easy to drive a team of oxen." [The arch is distinctly the curved-over neck in this instance-DD]
In 1881, soon after the Lordship incident, according to The Times, the yacht A.M. Bliss was returning from a fishing cruise when the passengers saw a veritable sea serpent moving slowly along the surface of the calm water.
And an 1886 New York Times article from Middletown, Conn., reported that "all along the banks of the Connecticut River people eagerly watched for a glimpse of the great sea serpent." According to the story: "Out of the froth rose a big black head as large as a flour barrel and with eyes as big as small plates. The head kept rising higher and higher until 10 feet of the neck appeared. The men didn't stop to make a long or thorough examination, but they feel sure that the sea serpent must have been a clear hundred feet long."
The Hartford, Conn., Haunted Places Examiner recounted a story from 1894 when Austin Rice of East Deerfield, Conn.,... "a plain unimaginative farmer, who for nearly 50 of the 70 years of his life has resided in his quiet home on the banks of the Connecticut River, says that nothing on earth can convince him that he did not see a snake in the river a few days ago. The report noted that "Mr. Rice's reputation for veracity among his neighbors and acquaintances is good, and he never drinks."
Then in 1895, the History of Lordship reported that crew members on the steamer Richard Peck noticed "a coiling motion, and the sea monster, as such it must have been if what they say is true, dove out of sight, first raising its head as if it had not been aware of the approaching steamer and had been disturbed from peaceful slumber."
There is something unusual about Lordship because again the History of Lordship reports that in 1896 a sea serpent with pea green whiskers passed down Long Island Sound. "He was plowing through the water at a 25- knot clip - and left a wake of foam behind him a mile in length. He was easily 200 feet in length and his head was reared 20 feet above the brine."
It seems our Connecticut River monster then became bashful for some 100 years. Maybe part of its reclusive time was spent in the nearly mile-long Hog River tunnel under Hartford, Conn. The Hog River flows 30 feet under the city in a 30-foot-high by 45-foot-wide tunnel made of reinforced concrete that is just over a mile long and runs between the Capitol and Armory buildings to the Connecticut River. Those few brave souls who have canoed the river tunnel say, "The darkness and the dripping and the echoes - it's like a chance to go to a kind of alien world." We may never know for sure, but it's possible.
Then in 1995, according to a press release from the Main Street Museum, that "in the waters just off of Lyman Point in White River Junction, where the White meets the Connecticut River, that an extraordinary monster was seen frolicking. First reports gave indication that some cousin, or closer relative, of "Champ," Lake Champlain's Aquatic Apparition, had somehow found its way onto the eastern half of our beautiful state." They offered the captured monster for display in 1995.
Not to be outdone, in 2008 NBC TV in Hartford, Conn., reported that a West Hartford resident had taken pictures of a mysterious creature living in West Hartford Reservoir Number 1. The photos taken depict something just below the surface of the water that appears to have "ancient looking" spikes along its long tail. The witness showed the photos to officials with the Metropolitan District Commission, who said that the reservoir does not hold drinking water so there is no cause for concern.
All of the sightings over the past 130 years recorded something that looked like an eel, serpent or reptile of some kind with a long neck and body or a longer spiked tail. That's a lot of coincidence since the first sighting in 1878. Maybe there is more than one Connecticut River monster, depending on its taste for salt water. All of the people making the reports certainly seemed convinced the monster was real.
Believe what you will about The Big Conn monster, but that's my story, and I am sticking to it.

The Connecticut River flows south into the Atlantic Ocean...Lake Champlain flows north into the Richelieu River, then into the St Lawrence River, and then into the Atlantic Ocean. We have no trouble believing in whales which are the largest air breathing mammals on earth and they are NOT fish. I just don't know why we cannot believe people who have seen a gigantic serpent that lives in the ocean and perhaps migrates upstream once in a blue moon. Many finds of the sea monster Plesiosaurus dolichodeirus have been discovered and the ocean is a very big place to hide so do we have to kill and mount one should one have possibly survived to this day? I would say keep your eyes peeled and your lens cap off.

-Now this series of reports is interesting because it is obviously the same as the typical Longnecked Sea-Serpent, including its "Merhorse" form and it is obviously also the same as the "Merhorse" that chased two boys in a boat up the Hudson River during the 1800s (That one also had long fragments of something coming out of its mouth "Like long pine shavings": these would again be fibers pulled out of a rival male's mane, they are not whiskers because the creature is at this point spitting them out of his mouth, and once asgain they are recognisably not "hair" Furthermore, if the creature was in a fighting mood, that might explain its unusual aggression)
Once again, the lengths of 100 to 200 feet long as reported would refer to the "wakes" and not to the bodies of such creratures. Experience with other reports of the type cuts the length down to a total length "usually" less than 50-60 feet in all.
In the case of River monsters in general, the usual explanation would be that they were Sea Monsters that wandered upstream. That would seem to be the case here and also in parallel cases in Maine,recognised by Heuvelmans as "Longneck Territory" So in all these case it's hardly even fair to say they are monsters characteristic of any one location (such as the Connecticut River in this occasion). They are just passing through.
In the case of Longnecked creatures seen inland, that is what "usually" turns out to be the case.

THE BLOODY BENDERSIn the wake of the Civil War, many Americans headed west, away from the strife of battlefields and burnt cities. If they happened through Kansas and stayed at the inn run by the Bender clan, they were taking their lives into their hands. The Benders were Germanic (the "parents" barely spoke English, and the "children" with an accent), and that is about all that is known of their history. The Benders moved to Kansas in 1870, and established a small inn and general store. There were 4 of them; John Bender Sr., who was 60, Ma Bender, 55, and their children, John Jr., of around 25, and Kate, around 23. What their actual names were, and what their true relationship was to each other (few believe that they were actually blood related), will probably never be revealed.Travelers often carried with them every dime they had, and the Benders soon realized they could grow rich robbing their guests. They arranged a setup wherein guests would sit at the table beneath a trap door. When they least suspected it, the male Benders would sneak up behind them, bludgeon them, and then slash their throats. A drop through the trap door, and the body could be stripped and robbed. Soon corpses began mounting up in the area. At first, the local Indian tribe was blamed, but the when a man and his infant daughter vanished in 1872, his neighbor launched a full scale investigation, and the focus soon landed on the Benders. Suspicions mounted, but before anything could be done, the Benders vanished.A search of the cabin revealed the bloody room beneath the trap door, and nine bodies were found buried on the grounds. A DAYTIME PHOTOGRAPH OF A DISK-SHAPED OBJECT WAS TAKEN IN EAST WOONSOCKET, RHODE ISLAND BY UFO CONTACTEE HAROLD TRUDEL. THIS LARGE OBJECT WAS UNHURT BY MANY AAA PROJECTILES, ACCORDING TO THE REPORTS. USUALLY KNOWN AS PHOTOGRAPH FROM THE BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES.

SEPTEMBER 4, 1971-AN OFFICIAL MAPPING AIRCRAFT OF THE COSTA RICAN GOVERNMENT TOOK THIS PHOTOGRAPH. THE AIRCRAFT WAS FLYING AT 10,000 FEET OVER LAGO DE COTE. AN INVESTIGATION COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE OBJECT AS A "KNOWN" AIRCRAFT. DEBUNKERS TOOK SOME STABS AT IT, BUT IT IS STILL RECOGNIZED AS AUTHENTIC BY MOST INVESTIGATORS. NO "EARTHLY" EXPLANATION HAS EVER BEEN GIVEN.

It's no surprise Oregon has its share of Bigfoot encounters; including paranormal Bigfoot events. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, the town of MIllersburg, Oregon, (about forty five miles north of Eugene) experienced some very strange events involving a white Bigfoot or "BHM" (Big Hairy Monster) with a lot of high strangeness surrounding the encounters.
The creature was called the "Creature of Conser Lake," also the "Ghost of Conser Lake" (because of its white color) and the "Monster of Conser Lake," the lake's name was Conser at the time, but isn't called Conser Lake anymore, the name has been changed and is on private property. I'm not revealing the name of the lake out of respect to the owners.
Reported as a bigfoot type creature; about seven feet tall, bipedal, white shaggy fur, the creature mystified Millersburg residents for over a year. The story begins with a story of a UFO or strange light crashing into Conser Lake in either 1959 or 1960. Soon after the strange light crashed into Conser Lake, a Millersburg truck driver was understandably startled to find a white, shaggy furred bigfoot type creature trotting along beside his truck as he was driving down the road. The driver, a mint farmer, was going about 35 miles an hour; the creature was easily keeping pace with the moving vehicle.
The creature was described as being about seven feet tall. The mint farmer described the creature as a "shaggy gorilla." Local Bruce Hamilton remembers the creature in Conser Lake, and a story about a "young couple driving by the lake; a seven or eight foot creature ran alongside their car."
As if the truck farmer's experience wasn't odd enough, "another" report of a tall, white furred shaggy Bigfoot type creature running alongside side a truck made its way into the news. This time the creature was seen in Telephone, Oregon, in Eastern Oregon. (I realize the town doesn't seem to show up on maps or Google searches, as I have found, and a recent e-mail alerted me to. However, this is the name cited by several sources. Many small "towns" are not listed, also, it's possible the name has changed, the area incorporated, or simply disappeared over time.) Witness C.A. Cissman saw a bright light approach, hover about 30 minutes, then disappear, shooting upwards and disappearing within seconds. Later, in Prospect, Oregon a logger was shocked to see a white furred, Bigfoot or Bigfoot type being, leisurely jogging alongside his truck on a deserted rural road.
Stories of Bigfoot running alongside cars aren't new, either. A report from 1926 tells of a Bigfoot creature encounter in Yankton, Oregon: "Bigfoot following alongside a truck looking in. Sheep and children would disappear." (UFO Casebook) It seems there was a history of bright zipping lights and white Bigfoot -- or white somethings -- following cars and trucks in Oregon.
Other reports of white Bigfoot creatures can be found; for example, Chris O'Brien writes in his Secrets of the Mysterious Valley about a "New Mexico cattle inspector" who told O'Brien:
he watched with binoculars a white bigfoot clamor up a rocky slope.. a witness in Washington "reported seeing a Bigfoot with large pointed ears" (p 231 Secrets of the Mysterious Valley, Christopher O'Brien)
The reference to "pointed ears" is interesting; Flix, our creature in Conser Lake, was also described as having pointed or "cat like" ears. A "ten foot white Bigfoot" was seen on the banks of the Ohio river in the 1960s. In fact, sightings of a white Bigfoot in the area were reported from the 1900s to the 1990s.(The I-Files: True Reports of Unexplained Phenomena in Illinois, Jay Rath)
Peter Guittilla's The Bigfoot Files contains stories of white BHM or Bigfoot like creatures that transcend the flesh and blood variety. Guittilla references an account from Fate magazine out of Peter Bottom, Arkansas. In 1966 reports of a "monster" living in the Bottom emerged. The creature was described as being nine feet tall with snow white fur. Aside from giving off a strong smell, the creature "made a sound like a radio signal... the signal sounded like 'beep, beep, beep." (The Bigfoot Files, p 86)
The synchronicity of the white bigfoots is intriguing, along with the mysterious lights in the sky. As far as the Conser Lake "monster" goes, witnesses reported feelings of disorientation, dizziness, severe headaches, and hearing loud thuds and running footsteps right by them but no source for the sounds. Some insisted they were in telepathic communication with the being, who said his name was "Flix" and was from outer space.
Flix was Bigfoot like in many ways, yet there were other characteristics described by witnesses that are strange. Flix was said to have claws and or webbed feet and hands and cat like ears.
There are some similarities with Bigfoot; the height, bipedalism, shaggy fur. As noted, there were other similar beings in Oregon scattered throughout the state. But enough high strangeness episodes take the idea of a strictly flesh and blood creature out its comfortable unknown animal category, and into the truly Fortean or esoteric. All the above noted incidences: UFOs or bright lights, telepathy, sounds with no visible source, feelings of disorientation, and the synchronicty of similar creatures adds up to something beyond a flesh and blood Bigfoot.
