A Lexington, KY, witness reports observing a silent, silver cigar-shaped object more than 100 feet long that appeared to be moving south at 30,000 feet, according to August 4, 2011, testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness observed the object for about one minute and could not see or hear man made aircraft attributes.
"This object was quite high up in the air, and I saw no wings, no smoke or vapor emission trail behind it, and no lights blinking, and no noise," the witness stated. "I watched this object, until I lost sight of it, after about a minute of observation."
But 30 seconds later, the object reappeared in the sky.
"I looked back up at the area of the sky where I last saw the object, and this same shaped object had turned around, and was now heading back in the direction it came from (now going south to north )."
No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on August 4, 2011. The incident occurred at 4:20 p.m. ET, August 2, 2011. The above quotes were edited for clarity.
Kentucky is a current UFO ALERT 5 rating, with a low number of UFO sightings nationally. Kentucky had 9 reports in July 2011 - while California had 54 UFO reports - the highest reporting state in the nation.
